Judith “Judy” O. (Bauer) Waterman
Judy Waterman, 80, passed away on the morning of May 2nd, 2015 at St. Peter’s Hospital, following an extended illness. She was surrounded by her family throughout her final days.
Judy was born on May 24, 1934 in Helena to Frank “Duke” and Juliet “Jerry” (DeBree) Bauer. She was the second of three children.
She attended Hawthorne School, and graduated from Helena High School. She married Thomas C. Waterman on September 4th 1954 at St. Peter’s Episcopal Cathedral in Helena.
Judy loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren more than anything, and was a constant part of all their lives. Her kindness and overwhelming generosity extended far beyond her family.
She loved to read anything non-fiction, and had an extensive interest and knowledge of Montana history, especially her hometown Helena and the surrounding area. She was very proud to be able to say that five generations of her family have been born and still reside here. Her closest friends were her sister and her cousins. During the last three years of her life she cherished the time she spent with her high school sweetheart, Jerry Neilson.
Judy is survived by her children Janet (Vince) Flesch of Shelby, Julie Paulsen (Larry Walters) and Tim (Penny) Waterman of Idaho Falls, ID, and Todd (Lisa) Waterman of Helena; sister Patti Kercher of Anchorage, AK; grandchildren Luke Casey, Jake, Matt, and Tom Flesch of Shelby, Tyler (Marissa) Paulsen of Helena, Corrie (Adam) Weisenstein of Kalispell, T.J. and Emilee Waterman of Idaho Falls, ID, and Kal & Andy Waterman of Helena; great-grandchildren Phaeton Paulsen of Helena, and Hudson Weisenstein of Kalispell, and companion Jerry Neilson of Big Fork.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Tom Waterman, parents Frank and Juliet Bauer and brother, Dr. Donald Bauer.
A private family graveside service will be held at Benton Ave. Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Lewis & Clark Humane Society, 1712 E. Custer Ave., Helena, MT 59602.
Heartfelt thanks to the very caring staff on the oncology floor at St. Peter’s Hospital, and Sherri, Aimee and staff at Aspen Gardens, for the kindness they showed Judy and her children.
Condolences can be left online at www.aswfuneralhome.com.
We miss you mom!

Judy and I were classmates, but never became friends until many years after graduation from Helena High School while working on a class reunion. Since then we shared oh so many long telephone conversations settling all the problems of the world. I will miss her so much. In spite of her illness, I believe Judy was the happiest I ever seen her this past 2-3 years. God rest her soul. Thoughts and prayers for her family!

Hugs to the whole Waterman clan. Judy had the ability to have good, interesting, and
thoughtful comments about the books she read and the the beautiful grace to groan
nicely at my attempts at humor. I will miss her very much, as I know you will too. Love,
Van.

Dearest Aunt Judy, how much we miss you already. It’s not fair that life is so short. It’s not fair that we lived so far apart. It’s not fair that you left with a piece of our heart. We will fill our void with memories. Memories you helped us make. Memories that we will pass on to our childrens children. Memories we will hold dear until we cross that bridge ourselves. For you were the best and in knowing that, we pray for you to now rest. All our love, forever more.
