In Memory Of

Kacy Lynn Schulte, age 27, of Helena, formerly of Lawton, OK

August 17, 1990 – March 3, 2018

Kacy Lynn Schulte’s beautiful life began on August 17, 1990 and ended on March 3, 2018.  “I hope you’re dancing in the sky. I hope you’re singing in the angel’s choir. I hope the angels know what they have. I’ll bet it’s so nice up in heaven since you arrived.”

Kacy graduated from Cache High School in Cache, OK. She also received certification in Graphics and Imaging from the Great Plain Area Vo-Tech in Lawton, OK. She played drums and percussion in the Cache High School marching band. She loved music……..any and all kinds of music. She loved to draw and was an amazingly talented artist.  Kacy loved to laugh and her laugh was contagious. Her infectious laughter in high school earned her the nickname “Elmo” after the extremely popular Tickle Me Elmo toy.  Her friends gave her the nickname and it stuck. They still refer to her as Elmo to this day.

Kacy was a beautiful, colorful soul! She was our hippie dippie love child who was simply born in the wrong era. She loved fiercely and deeply. She could brighten a room with her smile and her effervescent personality. She had empathy for her fellow humans and wanted to help everyone. If someone she loved was hurting, she felt their pain like it was her own. She was a loyal friend to all, whether she had known you for a week or for your entire life.

Kacy has two beautiful children, Declan Jameson and Erika Keller, who were the lights of her life.  She enjoyed taking them to the park, drawing pictures with them, reading them stories, baking and cooking with them and playing games with them. They were her absolute pride and joy and she lit up when she spoke of them or when she was near them.

Kacy loved her family endlessly, especially her younger siblings.  Her sister Kyleigh was her best friend. They could fight like cats one minute and the next minute they were doing each other’s make-up or sitting on the couch binge-watching Netflix snuggled up together. They had to have matching “sister tattoos”. They searched until they found the perfect quote: Together forever, never apart. Maybe in distance, but never in heart. Their beautiful bond will never be broken. Her brother Travis was always the antagonist. From the very beginning, he could pester her to near distraction. Calling her names over the fence, waking her up at 2am to “make me waffles”.  Just when she was about to pounce on him, he would laugh and run away to safety.  As they grew, the teasing continued but the love was always evident.  Kacy was incredibly proud of both of them and would brag about them to all who would listen.

Kacy was preceded in death by: her great-grandparents Joe and Delores Vasilauskas, Lorraine Vasilauskas, Clarence and Mildred Schulte, and Alford Butler; grandfather, Frank Thomas; her great-uncle Jerry Vasilauskas; and her uncle Kevin Schulte.

Kacy is survived by: her mom and bonus dad, Joe and Kristin Thomas; her dad, Bob Schulte; her sister, Kyleigh Schulte; her brother, Travis Schulte; her grandparents, George and Yvonne Vasilauskas, Robert and Sue Schulte, and Phyllis Schulte; her aunts and uncles; Nic and Sarah Vasilauskas, Steven and Michelle Schulte, and Chris and Christina Schulte and Brittany Schulte. She is also survived by many great aunts and uncles, numerous cousins and a plethora of friends.

Kacy lost her battle with addiction but she would not want anyone to make the same mistakes that she did. Please, if you are struggling with addiction, seek help. There are numerous resources available.  Celebrate Recovery (CR) – National Alliance of Mental Illness (NAMI) – Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) – counseling. Please honor her life by saving your own.

A viewing will be held from 9:30 a.m. – 2:45 p.m. on Friday, March 9th at Anderson Stevenson Wilke Funeral Home 3750 N. Montana Ave. in Helena. A service celebrating Kacy’s life will immediately follow the viewing at 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home. There will be reception following the service in the social hall of the funeral home. *Memorial Service to be held in Lawton, OK is pending and will be announced when arrangements are complete.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in honor of Kacy are suggested to the Kacy Schulte Memorial Fund at Valley Bank, P.O. Box 5269, Helena, MT 59604. All proceeds will be for her children.

“Please honor her life by saving your own” What a profound statement. I’m truly sorry for you loss, you have captured the essence of your daughter beautifully in these few paragraphs. There is a scripture in Isaiah 66:13 that says “As a mother comforts her son,So I will keep comforting you”, and I sincerely hope you can find a measure of comfort from Him at this most difficult time.

  22. The Kindred Family says

    April 26, 2018 at 2:38 am

So sorry to learn about Kacy. No words of heartfelt sympathy sent to your family will ever remove the deep pain of loss but may these words show that others truly do care. With each new day may God (Ps.34:18) and friends give the strength and comfort needed as you try to cope with such a sad loss. She will be sadly missed.
