Katherine (Katie) (Bug) Elizabeth Spencer was born on March 1st, 1994 in Helena, MT to Vicky and Richard Spencer. She was taken from her family and friends far too soon on the early morning of July 2nd 2017.
Katie was always such a caring and gentle person. One of the things she loved most as a little girl was spending time with her grandma learning to bake. She always put her family and friends first and was always willing to lend a hand in any way. After she graduated from Helena High she attended nursing classes as well as working as a CNA at several locations including Cooney and Touchmark. Her most recent work was at Florence Crittenton. Katie always had a passion for helping others and cared for every living thing, especially her baby bunny, (Houdini). She always found good in everyone and touched countless lives, and has the most amazing friends. She will forever be missed, but always remembered for the gentle loving person she always was.
Katie is survived by her Mother (Vicky Spencer); her brother (Richard Spencer Jr.); nieces (Aly & Lucy); nephew (Landon); Papa (Raymond Pelletier); Father (Richard Spencer Sr.); grandparents (Dolly and Russ Spencer); Uncles (Mike & Jim Pelletier, Russ Spencer Jr., John Edmonson, Mark Larouche); aunts (Trish Larouche, Karen Edmonson, Joanne Pelletier); and her cousins (Tina, Keri, Jessica, Josh, Shawna, Cody, and Rylie).
A Celebration of Katie’s Life will be held at Anderson Stevenson Wilke Funeral Home, 3750 N. Montana Ave., on Friday, July 14th, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. A reception will follow the service in the social hall of the funeral home. Burial will be held at Forestvale Cemetery after the reception.

Sweetest little Katie, you were a kind and gentle young lady, gone way too soon. You were so kind and caring to our little Mother, Clara at Touchmark. You stayed right with her as she passed into Heaven, gently and peacefully. Our mother loved you, Katie! We will never forget you, sweet Katie. You are with our Mother in heaven , another special Angel. Our prayers go out to your family.

To Katie’s family…I hope there is some consolation in knowing that the kindness and gentleness that Katie showed others WILL live on in those of us that were lucky enough to know her. Every time someone sends a random, kind message of love or passionately defends the rights of animals or …some other lovely, selfless, kind act…I will think of Katie. Namaste.

Though I only knew you for a short time, your kindness and care for others was unmatched. You inspired me to do the right thing for others and reminded me there is still good in the world. You were taken far too soon, but your compassion and love will live on in those you touched.

Dear Katie’s Family & Loved Ones. Your lose is so extremely sad. My prayers are with you. Some comforting words I’ve come to know: “Katie is a thousand winds that blow, she is the diamond’s gift of snow, Katie is the sunlight on ripened grain and the autumn’s gentle rain. When you awaken in the morning’s hush, Katie is the swift uplifting rush of quiet birds in circled flight. Katie is the soft stars that shine at night. Katie is everywhere and is Loved. God Bless Katie.”

My Katie was taken from me a little over a year ago. She was only 27. Believe me when I say I understand your pain and anguish and wish I could say it will go away, but at least you can hope for a new “normal” that will include wonderful memories that will stay with you though she can’t be there. The important thing is that she lived and gave you the opportunity to experience her and her wonderful presence, even though for such a short time.
Karen Reynolds says
I did not know Katie nor do I know you, her family and friends. My thoughts and prayers for peace and healing for all of you. My nephew was a surviving victim of gun violence in Helena when he was 15 yrs old. He was with two other teen boys. All 3 were shot, my nephew and one of the boys were critically injured and the third boy was killed. The lives of everyone involved in this tragedy were forever changed. Please know that you are all loved and there are others that are here for you ! Peace and love! Please contact me anytime if you would like to visit!
