Katherine Ellen McVeigh

February 12, 1924 – October 15, 2011

Katherine Ellen McVeigh, died on October 15, 2011, at the age of 87, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Loweth, Montana on February 12, 1924.

She was dearly loved by all who knew her. Katherine’s love for her family, all her relatives and friends, her church, her pets and all animals made her life whole.

Her younger years were spent on her family’s ranch in Ringling, Montana, tending to the livestock, haying in the summer and helping her mother with all the daily duties that a ranching woman performs. She graduated from Ringling High School in 1942. She attended the Helena Business College in Helena, Montana and held various positions in and around the Helena area including: the State of Montana Auditor’s Office, St. John’s Hospital and working as a bookkeeper and salesperson for McKelvey Paint Store in Helena. Katherine lived in Gallatin Gateway, Montana from 1995 through 2006, where she thoroughly enjoyed volunteering at the Bozeman Senior Center, Bozeman, Montana.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James P. McVeigh. They were married in 1948 and shared many loving years together traveling throughout the Western United States. They loved hiking through the mountains around Rimini, Montana where they lived most of their lives with their family.

She is survived by her son Michael P. McVeigh and her daughter Mary A. Isaak both of Helena, Montana. She had several grandchildren: Christopher and Erica McVeigh of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, Kelly and Kara Flansaas, and Granville and Stevie Boone of Helena, Montana. She also had two great-grandchildren, Keegan McVeigh and Corday Boone, both of Helena, Montana. Her daughter and son-in-laws are Leesa Estey and Dale Isaak, both residing with Katherine’s son and daughter in Helena, Montana.

She had numerous cousins, nieces and nephews around Montana and the U.S.

There will be a family/friends get together at the Anderson, Stevenson, Wilke Funeral Home at 650 Logan Street, Helena, Montana from 5:30p.m. until 7:00p.m., Wednesday, October 19, 2011, followed by Rosary Services at 7:00p.m. at that same facility.

Funeral Services will be held at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church at 11:00a.m. on Thursday October 20, 2011. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery on Montana Avenue.

The family asks that everyone that knew and loved Katherine join them for a gathering and celebration of her life following interment at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church Social Center. Condolences may be sent to the family by visiting: www.aswfuneralhome.com.

    Sorry to hear about your mom. I rented from her when I was younger. She was always so kind and happy. I worked with you Dad at Ma Bell also.
