Kathleen L. Manson, 91, of Helena, passed away on October 30, 2011 at St. Peter’s Hospital due to a battle with cancer. She was born October 22, 1920 in Kansas City, Missouri.
Kathleen came to Montana at age six, and lived and graduated from high school in Wolf Point, MT in 1939. She came to Helena in March of 1942 to seek work, and lived here for almost 70 years. She married Charles Hal Manson on June 16, 1984 in Helena. She worked primarily as a secretary for several state agencies, most recently the Dept. of Natural Resources and Conservation. She retired in 1984.
Kathleen loved to read and was a member of many book clubs. She was a devote catholic and was a member of the Cathedral of Saint Helena She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Club.
She is survived by her husband, Charles Hal Manson; three step children, Georgia Steirs of Great Falls, Mike Maroney and Billy Lou Sweeney, both of Seattle, WA; as well as several step grandchildren including Valerie Bolitho, Pamela Donavan, and Jon Steirs and great-step grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Ed Maroney in 1962 and her mother, Wilhelmina Meyers in 1980.
The family will receive friends 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Thursday, November 3, 2011 at Retz Funeral Home. A Funeral Liturgy will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, November 4, 2011 at Retz Funeral Chapel with interment to follow at Resurrection Cemetery.
