In loving memory of Keith R. Siewert
Age 74, December 19, 1948-July 11, 2023
Keith Siewert, a loving son, brother, husband, father, friend, and decorated war veteran passed away on Tuesday, July 11, 2023.
Keith was born 12-19-1948 to Chris and Bessie Siewert in Fertile, Minnesota, a town of 849 and no records for the year in question. From there at around age 2 he moved with his family to Wyoming briefly and then to Montana where he grew up in Blossberg and then to Helena.
The fact that his self-proclaimed best years were spent in Blossberg with no running water or electricity and snowed in every winter with his 7 brothers and sisters is a testament to Keith’s character.
On June 20th, 1969, Keith volunteered to enter the Vietnam War- his skills as a marksman were immediately recognized and on the 23rd of April, 1970 he completed the 101st airborne division Airmobile sniper school.
Keith spent his time in the service as a guardian of the battlefield- earning the bronze star for exemplary conduct in ground combat against an armed enemy, purple heart and many other accommodations.
After the war Keith settled back in the Helena area where he met Darlene Hackett. They married in 1973 and would go on to have 3 children and settle in Jefferson County, MT.
No child could have been graced with a better father or mentor.
Keith is survived by his sisters Fern and Elane, brother John, sons Jason and Jacob, and countless loving nieces and nephews, grandchildren and friends.
He will be missed by all.
