In the early hours of Saturday, July 16, 2022, Kenneth Wayne Breidenbach went peacefully to Our Lord with his wife, Sarah at his side. Kenny had fought for years with Congestive Heart Failure but in the end it won. There will be an informal Celebration of Life for Ken at the Motherlode on Saturday, July 23rd from 3 to 5. Please come and share stories of Ken “Dr of Motors” and friend to all.
Ken was born to Warren and Modena Breidenbach on May 8, 1947, in Bakersfield, CA. He attended school there and later moved to North Hollywood, CA with his wife Luci (Pearson) and their three children. The family moved to Montana in the late 70’s. After their divorce, Ken met and married Sarah Herold five years later in 1988.
Ken was a journeyman meat cutter and when the family moved to Montana, he was the meat market manager for Lundy’s in Townsend. In 1987, he and Sarah took over the family owned business of Capital City Bowl which they ran for eighteen years until they sold it in 2004.
Ken loved cars and motors and all that went with it. He maintained Ken’s Garage where friends would call when something wasn’t working with their vehicle. Ken would diagnose the problem over the phone and relay the fix for the problem. It always worked! Ken loved to drag race and drove stock cars for years and when those days were over, he and Sarah drove to Belgrade for the stock car races every Friday night. He delighted in the “old cars” and always had one or two.
Ken is survived by his wife Sarah of East Helena, daughter Tina Tillo (Tony) of Clancy, Tammy Rains (Nick) of Minden, NV, son Brian (Jennifer) in the Philippines, stepdaughters Laren Carparelli of Clancy and Lynda Morris (Scott) of Springfield, OR. He has eleven grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
A celebration of Ken’s life will be held from 3 .m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, July 23rd in the poker room at the Motherlode, 1428 Cedar Street.

Sarah and family, my thoughts and prayers are with you. Ken had a kind soul and will be missed. He had mellowed out and was wonderful to talk with and learn from. I remember when he had a nice 80’s something Mustang at the Last Chance Mustangs and Specialty Fords car show a few years back. I couldn’t believe he had a mustang. And then he showed me the Chevy motor under the hood. I suspect he is already discussing motors with Bud, Wally, Dan, uncle Vern and the rest of the guys, so he is in good company.
