Kenneth Steven Cloud was born on March 31, 1960, the first of four sons born to Michael P. and Theresa Fox Cloud.
Kenny left us tragically on Wednesday, January 26, 2011 of cardiac arrest after enjoying a day full of skiing with his students from Helena Middle School.
Kenny was educated in the Helena schools and graduated from Helena High in 1978. He continued his education at Northern Idaho College and the University of Montana, and he received his degree in Education from Eastern Montana College in 1984. He further extended his education at Black Hills State College and went on to receive his masters from MSU Northern. Kenny taught for 25 years at schools in Custer, SD and Helena, 21 of those at Helena Middle School.
Kenny married Carol Hauck of Billings in 1983. Of that union, a daughter, Stephanie Jean was born. Kenny then married the love of his life, Tammy Allen on July 22, 2006. Tammy was everything to Kenny and he loved her dearly.
Not only was Kenny a respected teacher, but also a coach, having coached high school football and wrestling in South Dakota and as well as high school football and wrestling along with USA Wrestling in Helena. Kenny also had the great privilege of being a representative for the state of Montana for Team Montana and traveled to Germany to wrestle in 1977.
His many hobbies included boating, bird hunting, fishing, time spent with his nieces and nephews, sports card collecting and following his beloved Helena High Bengals, Montana Grizzlies, Los Angeles Lakers, St. Louis Rams, Baltimore Orioles – especially his idol, Cal Ripken – and the activities in which his wife, brothers, and nieces and nephews participated. Kenny will be terribly missed by his companions, his pets, Skye, Jazz and Chipper.
Kenny is preceded in death by his grandparents, his Godfather, John Cloud, and Godmother Kitty Berube.
He is survived by his wife, Tammy; daughter, Stephanie and her boyfriend Kyle Kendig; step-children, Jamie and Cody Emerson; his parents, Mike and Terry Cloud; his brothers and their wives, Mike and Edie Cloud, Mark and Sarah Cloud, and Kevin and Lori Cloud; his in-laws, David and Peg Allen; as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Visitation hours will begin at 11:00 a.m. with the family receiving friends between the hours of 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Saturday, January 29, at Anderson Stevenson Wilke Funeral Home. A Vigil service will be held at 5:00 p.m. Sunday, January 30 at Cathedral of St. Helena. Funeral Mass will be noon Monday, January 31 at Cathedral of St. Helena. A reception will be held at the Eagles Lodge, 801 N. Fee, immediately following the Mass.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Helena Wrestling Club. Condolences may be sent to the family by visiting www.aswfuneralhome.com and www.facebook.com and search for “In Loving Memory of Kenny Cloud.”

I heard the sad news of Kenny’s passing yesterday morning. My condolences go out to the Cloud family. The last time I saw Kenny was in October at a Griz game. One the best parts of a Saturday Griz game is the fun I have visiting with the Cloud family. One of the nicest families I have ever known. Kenny was a big part of those Saturday afternoons. He will be missed.

Theresa & Mike,
I am saddened for your loss. I informed my kids all who know Kenny from their HMS & HHS years. Mike, I would venture to guess that Kenny was chip off of the old block. Friendly, fun and impressionable.

Family and friends,
I knew Ken along time ago and was a team mate on the 1977 Germany exchange team. I have fond memories of that trip and remember Ken as a fun loving interesting guy. Our lives are made up of alot of different people and memories. Ken was and will be one of the good ones that I got to meet and call a friend. We may not have kept in touch but if we had met again I am sure we would picked up were we left off so many years ago. May the Peace of Christ be with his family and friends. With respect and admiration, Michael Fred Ereaux, Malta, MT

Wow! I just now heard about Ken’s passing. What a devastating loss to our community, to all the students whose lives were touched daily by Ken, and especially to the Cloud family. Growing up as a high school cross-towner, you could always see in his eyes what a fierce competitor Ken was. When you lined up opposite him, you’d had better been prepared for the most ultimate test of athletic abilities, as Ken was always going to bring it. I am not surprised by all of his lifetime achievements… Ken was a true winner, not only in sports, but in life! My thoughts and prayers go out to Ken’s family and sincerest condolences to all the past and present students, former classmates, and friends whose lives had been touched by him.

My heart aches for all of you. Kenny was so young. I remember Kenny a a young boy when Art and I stayed with you after our wedding. He was a very nice young man. I did not have the opportunity to know him as a grownup, but I can tell by the obituary that he was loved by many. I know that David will miss very much. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Terry and Mike and the rest of you rasslin’rascals– I am so sorry to hear of Kenny’s untimely death. You probably haven’t thought about this, but Kenny’s death will impact THOUSANDS of people in this town and across this state. I happened to discuss this with a young man who said, “He was my wrestling coach.” I said, “I thought you went to Capital,” and he responded with “Yeah, but he was my AAU coach, along with a couple hundred others.” What an impact! Death is untimely for young people and that is why it is so hard. I know you all remember my son Brett’s death and the comfort you gave me, but Kevin and he were good buds, so he now grieves again, as you, and we all do. The headline was right, “We lost a good one.” I would have said “great one.” My best to you all. Ron Iverson

You will always be remembered Mr. Cloud…my favorite gym teacher. RIP

I just want to let you know how my heart hurts for the Cloud family. I met Kenny in 1985 when he stood in front of my Health class and had to talk about “female reproduction”. He was beet red. He was a wonderful man and my heart hurts that such a wonder has been taken from this world at such a young age. He gave his heart and soul to all the young children in Helena. Kenny will be missed by everyone he has touched. Kenny was a remarkable to man to say the least. God Bless Kenny’s family and my prayers are with them during this difficult time. Rest in Peace Kenny. Thank you for your friendship throughout my young years and after I “grew” up.
Wally Peel says
Mike and Terry,
So sorry to learn of the loss of your son. Though I didn’t know him, I can tell that he was a “one in a million” young man. May the Lord give you and your family great comfort in this difficult time.
