Kimberly Gale Lane “Kim” made her final move to Heaven on October 11. 2024. She was 65 years old. She passed away at Penrose Hospital in Colorado Springs under the care of Hospice.
I sat by her bedside not realizing how close she was to her journey’s end. She was just sleeping it seemed although she had been doing just that for days. Her wakeful moments were few and far between, she seemed so comfortable, no pain on her countenance. Just a peaceful expression. I talked to her and let her know we weren’t ready for her to go but we understood if that was what she had to do. We had plans to travel. She fluttered her eyes; I said I’ll be back. But she couldn’t wait, and she left.
We are comforted knowing that she went straight into the arms of Jesus to be welcomed among the family that was waiting for her. Most of all her mom!
Kim was born to Ras and Margaret Reed on May 3rd, 1959. She was their third child and first and only daughter. Kim grew up in California and graduated from Pacifica High. She had many friends there.
Kim married her high school sweetheart, Steven George Lane. They did everything together and loved each other more than life itself. Although they never had any children they loved on every child in their lives. When Steve left life before her it was difficult for Kim, she persevered and longed to be with him and all those that preceded her.
One thing Kim wanted to do before her passing was to meet her niece that she had lost track of. She was able to do that.
Kim was preceded in death by the love of her life, Steven Lane, her father Ras Reed, her mother Margaret Homolka, her brothers Harlan and Darrell. She is survived by her last brother Gary Reed and many nieces and nephews and step nieces and step nephews.
While Kim never dreamed of leaving Montana permanently, she did leave for a while and enjoyed travelling as much as she physically could with her brother at every opportunity afforded to her.
Kim made an impression on everyone she knew and even those she met for the first time. She will be dearly missed and remembered by many. However, she would want you to rejoice that she is home with our Lord and Savior!

I am sorry for your loss. Kim was such a ray of sunshine. We were friends but lost touch after I moved away from Townsend, Montana.

Years ago, I had the pleasure of getting to know Kim through work. She was a gem! I’ve thought of her often through the years and regret that we didn’t stay in touch. Sending lots of love to those who cared for her!

Kim was always joyful, even through difficult times. Such a caring person. It rang so true reading, “Although they never had any children they loved on every child in their lives.” Just this morning I was talking to my daughter and recalled how Kim had such a fondness for her. There is joy in knowing that her pain in gone.

It is with a sad heart that I read of Kim’s passing. I knew both she and Steve. They were great and and wonderful people. I know Steve was at the gates heaven with our stretched arms to greet her. My sympathy to her family
