Larry Douglas Vermillion, age 59, son, brother, uncle and friend passed away January 6th, 2016 at his home in Great Falls, Montana. He was born in Asmara, Eritrea, Ethiopia (his father was stationed with the U.S. Army) on January 23, 1956 to Earl R. Vermillion and Shirley B. Stone.
Larry was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Larry is survived by his parents, his brothers Jim Vermillion (Mary) of Hamilton, MT; Brian Vermillion (Dani) of East Helena, MT; sisters Charlene (Jay) Knight of Springville, UT; Patricia (Fred) West of Hamilton, MT. He is also survived by 11 nieces and nephews and one great niece, two great nephews and best friends Clint and Tara Vincent of Helena, MT.
He is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Orval F. Stone and Beatrice P. Andrus and his paternal grandparents Fred M. Vermillion and Ina Alberta Papson; his beloved pets PK, Spring, and Tina.
Larry Served in the U.S. Army from 1978 to 1981 and was honorably discharged. During his service he was stationed in Germany as a helicopter mechanic, aircraft crew member and observation scout.
His favorite activity was riding his Harley with his friends. Larry also played in the Great Falls Symphony Orchestra in the marching and jazz bands when he was at Great Falls High School. He attended Ricks College (now BYU Idaho) and majored in music.
A memorial service will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 1260 Otter Rd., Helena, MT 59602 on Wednesday, January 13, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. A luncheon will immediately follow at the church. Interment will be at the Montana State Veterans Cemetery, Fort Harrison following the luncheon.
