Our dear mother, Laurene Kay Lindgren, went to be with the Lord on May 3, 2025, in Helena, MT – she passed away peacefully at the age of 78, surrounded by her family.
Laurene was born on July 30, 1946 in Hibbing, MN to Edward and Mary Halicki and was the middle of three girls. She attended schools in Chisholm, MN, graduating from High School in 1964. Following High School, Laurene attended and graduated from the Don More’ Beauty College in Hibbing.
Laurene married Evans (Duffy) Lindgren on October 8th, 1966. They were blessed with three wonderful children, David, Leah, and Jay. They lived in Int’l Falls, MN starting in 1971, where they raised their children until 1984, when the family moved to Helena, MT. Laurene’s main job was being a mother, taking care of her husband, kids and their home. She also worked as a CNA in both MN and MT – the 2 Nursing Homes loved having our mom as a CNA, as she was so wonderful with the patients, often doing their hair, making them feel special, along with providing love, support and care.
Laurene loved to cook, and she was the best at it!! Everyone loved her cooking and she provided many meals for many people – she loved sharing her wonderful dishes. She also loved camping on various lakes and in the mountains – she loved being in the water on her floating lawn chair, sitting around the campfire, playing cards or lip-syncing to her favorite songs into a wooden spoon micro-phone.
Family meant everything to our mom. She loved her kids and grandkids – they were her pride and joy! She attended their sporting events, Christmas plays, graduations, and so much more. She was the best cheer leader! She was also very close to her sisters and their families and loved spending time with them, always laughing and having fun.
Laurene was the most loving person, and she was the best mom! The kindness she had for everyone stood out greatly and she was generous to a fault. We are so blessed to have had such a wonderful mom who loved so deeply and unconditionally.
Laurene was preceded in death by her husband, Evans (Duffy) and parents Ed and Mary. She is survived by her children David (Tammy), Leah (Darren), and Jay (Nicole), her grandchildren David (Shaeley), Marcus (Katelyn), Rachael, Ashley (Tyrel), Hunter (Caitlin), Jaret, Colton, and Tizer. Other survivors include sisters Dinee Halicki, Edonna (Rick) Spokely, and nephew Chris Spokely (Niki), and sister-in-law Kay Lou Kelly.
We would like to thank the staff at St. Peters, including the ER and the nursing staff, for their loving and supportive medical care – they were so good to us and our mother- helping us through this difficult time.

Dear Lindgren Family
I have so many wonderful memories growing up in the Lindgren house. Her clean house impressed me the most, and yes, her cooking too. Sorry for your loss, she will now be your angel in Heaven. Psalm 34:18. The Lord is close to the brokenhearted; he rescues those whose spirits are crushed. I wish I could be there with you all. – Wonderful service by the way. (((Hugs))) to you all. Warmest Regards, Christine
