Leona “Lee” Pearl Rethemeyer Majors, 94, of Helena, passed away from natural causes on June 8, 2011. She was born to Lloyd and Maude Rethemeyer on December 28, 1916 in Horton, Kansas.
She married Kenneth Majors on November 30, 1935 in Mathe, Kansas. He passed away in 1976.
Lee graduated from High School and attended three years of college. She worked primarily as a florist and was the founder and owner of Major’s Flower & Gift Shop in Helena.
Lee enjoyed volunteer work and volunteered for the Big Sky Girl Scouts, where she received her honor pin, served on the board for several years, and became a lifetime Girl Scout Member. She was also a former Vice President and volunteer for the Helena Garden Club. She was also a member of the Elks Club and St. Paul’s United Methodist Church.
Lee is survived by her son, Mike (Francoise) Majors of Clovis, NM; daughter, Mrs. Sally (James) Skedd of Gig Harbor, WA; grandchildren, Tammi (Barry) Dorsey, Traci Skedd, and Ryan Skedd; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Lloyd and Dale Rethemeyer.
