Lilly Wood, of Lincoln, Montana, passed away on a sunny morning of natural causes on June 30, 2016 at Aspen Gardens Assisted Living in Helena where she had resided for the last three years.
She was born in Brady, Montana on April 23, 1933 to Melvin and Josephine Severson. She was raised there along with her nine siblings. It was in Brady where, after graduating high school in 1951, she met and married Richard (Dick), her husband of 57 years in 1952. After living in Brady and the Hi-Line area for several years, they moved to Lincoln to work and raise their family.
Lilly enjoyed her life in Lincoln where she lived and worked side by side with her husband, Dick, while they were self-employed for many years in the timber industry, and trucking. She was very active over the years in many local groups and functions which included VFW Auxiliary, Pine Grove Extension Homemakers, and Lincoln PTO. Lilly enjoyed many years of walking downtown to have her morning coffee with several of her dearest friends. She was our social butterfly! In their later years, Dick and Lilly traveled to milder climates with their fifth-wheel along with many other snowbirds. She was an amazing, caring mother and grandmother all through her years. Her eyes lit up when any of her family would walk through the door, and her gentle smile could light up a room.
Lilly was preceded in death by her husband, infant daughter Jeanne Yvonne, her parents, three sisters, three brothers, and grandson Jack Horner.
Lilly is survived by her daughters Vicki (Bruce) West and Debra Wood of Lincoln, and her son Douglas Wood of Yakima, WA. She is also survived by her grandchildren Brynn (Ryan) Fowler, Jeret (Susonne) West, Hiddi (John) Helvey, Mike Wood, Matt (Katie) Horner, and five great-grandsons Mason, Aidan, Nolan, Bodie, and Jackson.
A memorial for Lilly will held at the Blackfoot Valley Bible Church on July 30 at 11:00 am with a potluck luncheon immediately following in the church basement. Donations may be made in her name and sent to Lincoln Volunteer Ambulance or Blackfoot Valley Bible Church.
Lilly’s family would like to thank Aimee, Sherri, and all the caregivers she had at Aspen Gardens who took such wonderful care of her through the years. We would also thank Rocky Mountain Hospice for their thoughtful caregiving.
As her family, we will miss her so and are very glad “there are holes in the floor of heaven so she can watch over us tonight.” And forever…
