On the morning of October 7, 2017 at approximately 4:00 am near Nelson, MT, Logan’s young life was taken too soon, at the age of 16, as a result of a car accident. Logan was a sophomore at Capital High School. He, along with two of his best buddies were on their way to do what he loved most, hunting.
Logan was born in Helena, MT to Debbie Guse (Voelkel) and Daryl Guse. Born 6 weeks early and a fighter from the start, he spent two weeks in the NICU in Great Falls, MT. Even as a newborn Logan demanded everyone’s attention with his bright red hair, that twinkle in his eye, and his infectious, mischievous smile. We always knew he would be a fireball. He had a contagious laugh and a bright smile that would light up any room. He brought joy and happiness to everyone, no matter who they were. At Capital High School and Super 1 Foods, Logan was known for his sense of humor and was a bright light in everyone’s day. Without his presence there will be a silence felt by all who knew him.
The youngest of 4, Logan hit the ground running. By the age of 2, he took off his own training wheels to keep up with the big kids because nothing would ever hold that boy back! He spent time with his neighborhood grandpa, Hoy Bryant, who taught him about yard work and how to fix things. Logan was forever fascinated by how things worked, always taking them apart and trying his best to put them back together, usually with a few misplaced or extra pieces. No matter what he was doing, Logan insisted on having music blaring in the background. He loved anything upbeat, but country most of all.
Logan’s love for the outdoors and nature started at a very young age. From camping to fishing, hunting and hiking, he never turned down the opportunity to be in the mountains with his family. He enjoyed taking many spontaneous trips and spending countless memorable hours fishing with his mom. With fly poles and tackle, hiking gear and his boots, Logan was prepared for any adventure at a moment’s notice. Finally old enough to carry his own rifle hunting, he was always on the lookout for the big one.
Logan enjoyed many summers at his uncle Earl and aunt Karen’s ranch in Hamilton, MT. He loved haying, tying flies, fly fishing, and helping neighbors with odd jobs, always wanting to help. As Logan got older he was a natural with any shop class, always working with his hands, pouring his heart into every project. Spending many hours helping his Dad work on cars and household projects, he was always willing to help and learn. He loved automotive and wood shop, and aspired to learn about welding. His dream was to run his uncle’s ranch, making a living doing what he loved most. Hunting. Fishing. And Loving Every day.
Logan was preceded in death by: his great grandparents, Erna L. and John G. Guse, Earle E. and Lucelle Philips, Dorothy and Orville Popenhagen; grandfather, Glenn L. Voelkel.
Logan is survived by: his mother, Debbie Guse and father, Daryl Guse; brother Casey (Katrina) Guse, along with their children, Addyson and Braxton; sisters Katie Guse and Morgan Guse; grandparents, Ron J. and Mary L. Guse, and his Oma Carol Popenhagen; aunts and uncles; Caryn Guse, Julie (Scott) Schneckloth, Amber Langley, Susan (Leland) Tash, and Harold Voelkel; cousins, Calvin, Megan, Shelby, Sean, Stephanie, Stacia, Chelle, Ronald, Liana, and Dion; and a large extended family and many friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, October 13th at the Helena First Assembly of God Church, 2210 Dodge Avenue. A reception will immediately follow in the fellowship hall of the Church. Burial will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations sent to the Montana Wildlife Federation at montanawildlife.org in memory of Logan’s great love for wildlife and the outdoors. Also, a GoFundMe account has been set up at gofundme.com/logan-guse-memorial-fund to help offset the cost of funeral expenses. Please visit www.aswfuneralhome.com to offer a condolence to the family or to share a memory of Logan.

Daryl, Debbie & family,
We are so saddened to hear about Logan. We have fond memories of Logan buzzing around the neighborhood. He was always full of questions and our kids adored him. Ansleigh reminded us that Logan taught her to finally ride her bike without training wheels, something she wasn’t brave enough to try for anyone else. We are so sorry for your loss and hope you take comfort in knowing Logan is unforgettable to anyone who crossed his path. That mischievous smile and twinkle in his eye is how we will always remember him. Your family will be in our thoughts and prayers.

Colleen Long says
I only recently met Logan, but he generously gave me his time and efforts in helping me after I bought a new home near his Uncle Earl’s ranch. Logan came over on several occasions to assist me with chores and fixing up a much needed horse paddock, cleaning out sheds, and delivering a winter’s hay supply. He was the most kind and polite young man, leaving me with a wonderful memory of him. My sincere condolences for your great loss.

Please accept our deepest sympathy. Even though Ecclesiastes 9:11 says unforeseen events happen to us all, it does not ease your grief. Find comfort in knowing that God is quite aware of your deep pain & promises to do something about it when He reunites you with Logan in the coming resurrection promised in Acts 24:15.
Elaine Palmer says
Dear Guse Family,
I only just heard about this tonight and my heart is breaking for you. I was just telling a story tonight to Alex about them flooding our garage when they were around 7yrs old and he mentioned that he thought something had happened to Logan. Logan lived life to the fullest which many of us can not say for ourselves. He will be remembered in my heart with fondness. Hugs to you and tour family. I can’t even imagine your pain.
