Lois Ann Statton Beck was born in Livingston Montana to Manford (Red) and Ardythe (Cubby) Statton. Lois passed away at home on October 9, 2025.
Lois lived in many different places in Montana and Washington and finally settled in Avon in 1971. Lois attended Avon Grade School. During High School she worked as a waitress at Welch’s Truck Stop in Garrison Mt and completed her Junior and Senior year of high school at Powell County High School simultaneously and graduated in 1977.
Lois married John Beck of Avon on September 23, 1977. John and Lois worked and raised their family in Avon. Lois enjoyed ranching with her family and knew how to make each one feel special. If you need an example of what a cowgirl is, there is no better mold. She could be found on her horse, Red, in the spring moving cattle to pasture and, in the fall, rounding them up and sorting. She was caring, hardworking, and fun to be with. For many years, she would cut up a logging truckload of firewood with her electric chainsaw, split it and stack it all in the woodshed for winter. Known for her cooking abilities weather it was cooking for a hay crew or making decorative cakes for special occasions.
Lois was an amazing artist and very creative. She also enjoyed gardening when the weather and moose allowed. She was a devoted friend, wife, mother, and grandmother. She was the toughest person but had the biggest heart. She always put her family’s needs before hers. She will be deeply missed. We could not be more proud of her.
Lois was preceded in death by her mother and father, brother Doug, and daughter Bobbi Jo. She is survived by her husband John, sons Nicolas (Cara), Casey (Rylee), Sonny (Annie), her grandchildren, her brother Jim (Joyce) Statton and many nieces and nephews.
Come join the family and friends at a graveside service to be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, October 16, 2025, at the Avon Cemetery. A reception and social gathering will follow at the Club House in Avon. In lieu of flowers the family ask that memorials in Lois’s name are suggested to the Avon Cemetery Association; Avon, Montana 59713

We shared 47 years of marriage and loved each other very much. Her nickname when were young was “Sunshine” which I always thought fit her perfectly. She truly was the sunshine of my life. She was full of energy, purpose, and fun. She could be a force of nature. She showed incredible love for her family and will be deeply missed.

Lois was a dear friend who I first met because the ranch had a grazing permit on the forest. From permittee meetings to moonlighting on the Beck hay crew Lois became a friend who I visited whenever I passed through the Avon area and always stopped by for a cup of tea. We shared a love of lawn/yard/porch ornaments (she had way more than I did!) Lois was my source of the latest Avon news. She was full of energy and always hard working. She, and the whole family, always made me feel welcome. I will miss her so much.
