September 26, 1940 – October 16, 2022

Lois Mae Stancin, 82, of Helena, MT passed away surrounded by loving family on Oct. 16, 2022.

Lois was born on Sept. 26, 1940 in Tacoma, WA. to Charles and Harriet McDowell. She married Steven Stancin on Aug. 20, 1964 and proudly raised their seven children together.

Later in life Lois became a school bus attendant for First Student where she met Norman Harju. They had a deep loving relationship where they were frequently seen holding hands, taking long walks, and enjoying ice cream cones together. Thanks to their love, Lois had many years of happiness and adventure. They were inseparable.

Lois had a passion for gardening, her dogs, drawing, oil painting, and photography. She was always looking for the next great inspiration or picture wherever she went. She continued drawing and painting through her final days.

Lois was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Harriet McDowell, sister Kathleen Smith, and husband Steven Stancin. Survivors include Companion Norman Harju, Children Eric (Shelly) Stancin, Laura (Dale) Zander, Phillip (Gerlyn) Stancin, Lisa (Jarrid) Watkins, Ruth Stancin, Luke Stancin, John(Kari) Stancin, along with multiple grandchildren, great-grandchildren, a niece and nephews.

Growing up. I remember looking forward to either growing to their house or coming to mine. We weren’t just cousins they were my brother and sisters. Aunt Lois was not my aunt she was my mom. She always made me feel loved accepted. Whenever Iwas with them. I knew I was loved a peace. I hated my home but loved being in theirs. I miss those days . I have so much to say but not enough space to write. Aunt/Mom thank you for always making me feel loved not abandoned for the times I cried and you listened without judgement or shame for helping me grow you loved me like your own. You had a great impact on my life. Thank you for hugging me and loving me. I miss you so much. Thank you for giving me a awesome family so many brothers and sisters. I love and miss you lots
    Kenny
