It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Lola Jeanette Cloninger, Sunday, April 7, 2024. She passed at St. Peter’s Hospital in Helena, Montana after a lengthy illness.
Born on July 21, 1932, in Livingston, Montana, to her father Warren McHenry and mother Christine Arnold. Lola led a life marked by her steadfast resolve and unwavering principles. She was a woman of strong will and independence.
Beyond being a devoted homemaker, she enjoyed camping at Canyon Ferry Lake and other Montana recreational sites. She was an avid bowler and attended several national tournaments including New York City and Reno, Nevada. In addition, Lola was an enthusiastic baseball fan of the Legion Baseball program and involved with the American Legion Women’s Auxiliary.
She is survived by her children Helen Jeanette (Gary) Curtis, Leonard (Carol) Cloninger, Susan Keltner, and Julie (Jeff) LaValley, her sisters Jean Sullivan, Ellen Wegley, and half brother Jerry Zindler. Lola is also survived by her grandchildren Melissa Romano, Jennifer (Andy Hampa) Williams, Geoff (Andrea) Curtis, Mike (Catie) Cloninger, Kelly (Chris) McGrath, Sonja Cloninger, Elizabeth Cloninger, Emma LaValley, Hadley LaValley, Ava LaValley, Liam Lavalley and 16 great grandchildren.
Lola is preceded in death by her husband, Lester Lee Cloninger, father, Warren, mother, Christine, and sister, Doris Neidt.
A private family graveside service for Lola Cloninger will take place at Forestvale Cemetery. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to Flathead United Methodist Camp, 21339 Methodist Camp Road, Rollins, MT. 59931
