Loren Duane Sharbono, 71, of Clancy, passed away from a battle with cancer on May 17, 2011 in Helena. He was born November 14, 1939 to Sylvester Henry Sharbono and Carrie Antoinette (Holler) Sharbono in the family farm home in Richand County, MT.
Loren attended school at the Sharbono School of District No. 97. After school, he went on to serve in the National Guard of Montana. During that time, he married his first wife, Ellen Roesler in 1960. Loren received and Honorable Discharge from the National Guard on March 9, 1964. Ellen passed away on November 16, 1974. In 1989, Loren married his current wife, Sheryl Bonogofsky Sharbono.
Loren worked as a Heavy Equipment operator for Helena Sand & Gravel and for Sharbono Construction in Helena.
Loren loved to keep his garden flourished, hunt, work on his cars, and spend time with his family. He had a pilot’s license for over 40 years and had his own plane for approximately 10 years. He was a member of the First Assembly of God church in Helena. He was known to most as Loren, but was affectionately called Dad, Grandpa, and Papa.
Loren is survived by his wife, Sheryl; son, Darwin (Melanie) Sharbono; step-daughters, Paula (Bruce) Bonogofsky, Tina Bonogofsky, and Heather (Adam) Allen; brothers, Delbert (Marcella) Sharbono of Clancy and Herbert Sharbono of Glendive; sister, Louella Fisher of Sidney; 11 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Carroll Sharbono, Sylvester (June) Sharbono, and Donald Sharbono; and sisters, Drusilla Mitchell, Fay Berger, and Christina Stanford.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, May 19th at Anderson Stevenson Wilke Funeral Home. Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 20 at First Assembly of God Church, 2210 Dodge Avenue. Memorials may be sent to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital by visiting: www.stjude.org. I am so sorry for the loss of your Dad Darwin and Melanie. I met Loren on the North Main/Lyndale project while he was working for Helena Sand & Gravel. He was a very hard worker and awesome individual. I visited with him on several occasions and found him to be a very likeable person. You two will be in my thoughts.
