Madeline “Maddy” Mae Freiburg of Helena, returned home to join Jesus on June 6, 2011. She was five years old.
She was born to Destiny Freiburg on July 5, 2005 in Great Falls, MT. She attended pre-school for one year.
Maddy was a vibrant wiggle worm whose beautiful soul consumed and stole the hearts of her friends, family, and community. Her determination was unstoppable and fueled her will to live through many obstacles. She was adored for her contagious laugh, sweet smile, serene gestures, her “silly in the eye” look, and attitude and mood that she wore openly on her sleeve. She was stubborn, she was sweet. She was fire, she was ice. She was perfect, and she will be greatly missed! She loved books, music, cuddling, bouncing, Betty Boop, her Baby Einstein video, and watching Rosanne. She loved the game Patty Cake and mistakenly charged you in the game of “I’m going to get you!” instead of running away. She always pronounced, “I’m going to get you!”
In closing, the lyrics of a great song comes to mind that I’d like to share with you: “What do you say in a moment like this, when you cannot find the words, tell it like it is. Just close your eyes and let your heart lead the way, oh, what do you say?” In response, this is what we say. Our God is good! In the midst of our brokenness, through Christ are we held together. In the pit of our deepest sorrows and grief, through Christ we are lifted up. In our hour of anger and confusion, through Christ are all things reconciled and restored. Throughout our lifetime of loneliness and great longing to hold Maddy once more, through Christ are we overcome with joy and thanksgiving for the gift of her life, her spirit, her courage, and for her perfect love. Oh yes, our God is good!
“Let brotherly love continue. Do not forget to entertain strangers, for by so doing some have unwittingly entertained angels.” Hebrews 13:1-3
Madeline is survived by her mother; sisters, Rheanna and Tiauna Morrow; brother, Teigan Frieburg; Grandma Connie Freiburg; Uncle Luke (Heather) Cutburth; and cousins, Ariel, Lukas, Mariah and Gabrielle Cutburth. She was preceded in death by Big Grandma Virginia and Grandpa George Freiburg; Uncle Brad Freiburg and his dog, Bear; and great-great Grandma Fern Reynolds.
Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Thursday, June 9th at Anderson Stevenson Wilke Funeral Home. Funeral services are scheduled for 1:00 p.m. Friday, June 10th at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery. If you wish to leave a memorial donation in Maddy’s name, you may visit any chapter of Helena Community Credit Union and make it in c/o Destiny Freiburg for the benefit of Madeline. Maddy was a favorite in our preschool class. I loved it when she’d pull back the (“don’t touch”) curtain and pull every last cardboard block from the motor room shelf, then crawl up and lie down on the shelf behind the curtain, grinning, so she could peek out at us. She was a sweetheart and we miss her.

I was honored to know Maddy while I worked at Ray Bjork. She loved to come by my desk and watch the variety of seasonal, animated, musical characters I had on the edge. I loved the sparkle in her eye! She was a special little girl and I will always hold a place in my heart for her.

I don’t know you, but wanted to tell you: THAT IS ONE OF THE MOST BEAUTIFUL and POIGNANT OBITUARY I HAVE EVER READ ~ Fitting for her, it seems.
“For God has not given us a spirit of timidity, but of power and love and discipline. The memories of the ones who have passed fill the void that they left.”
~ St. Augustine ~

Destiny and family. I don’t even know how to begin to tell you how sorry we are about your loss of such a beautiful child and soul. Your touching and wonderful tribute to Maddy was very touching and true. I was not aware of your struggles so that makes me feel very guilty in not offering my help. I have always admired you and your family, you have beautiful girls that have been such a help to me in catching my wayward dogs. I appreciate it. I lost a son many years ago, and it seems to me that God has a special task for mothers that lose children. I’m not sure what it is but maybe someday I will find out. Please accept our deepest sympathy and since we live just across the street, please call on us for any help you may need. May God bless you and your family and grant you peace.
