Marcella Josephine (Marcie) Mischel, passed away peacefully on January 21, 2024 at the Son Heaven Assisted Living Home in Helena, Montana while being comforted by her family. Marcie was 91 years old.
Marcie was born in Dickinson, North Dakota, on a snowy night January 30, 1932, to Mary and Joseph Pavlish. Marcie completed her post-secondary education with an Associate Degree in Accounting from Dickinson State University.
After moving to Glendive Montana, Marcie began a career with the Montana Highway Patrol. She worked with the Patrol for 30 years. After retiring, Marcie became a Glendive Medical Center Auxiliary Volunteer and spent the next 20 years giving back to the Medical Center and Glendive community, sharing countless hours of her time working at the Attic Thrift Store.
Marcie was a member of the Altar Society of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Catholic Daughters of America. She cherished Sunday Mass and attended regular service in Glendive with her dear friend Patty Atwell. Her faith in God was with her throughout her entire life.
Marcie enjoyed traveling and after her retirement from the Highway Patrol, went on many adventures with her friend Marlene Taylor. Marcie was an incredible baker and would spend hours perfecting cookie recipes. Everyone loved to sneak into the cookie tins around the holidays. Marcie found happiness in daily activities and enjoyed passing the time at home.
A little Shih Tzu, named Tipsy, stole Marcie’s heart over the last few years. Jeff and Sharon Doll would bring their little pup over to visit Marice in Glendive. She loved babysitting Tipsy and feeding her special treats.

I was a young MHP Trooper in the early 90’s and met Marci then. She was kind, efficient and a pleasure to work with always. She had a consistent pleasant demeanor that represented the Patrol to great credit. I was honored to know and work with her

Marci was a longtime friend and neighbor of my mom’s. She had a great time with a group of ladies who would gather for coffee once a week and celebrate their birthdays when it was their turn to shine. She had a light that shined bright and a smile that never stopped. We will miss her. ~ Kris (Thompson) Ruddy
