Marcia L. Zygmond, age 89, of Helena

Beloved mother, grandma, sister, auntie, and friend Marcia Zygmond joined her family and friends that preceded her in death in heaven on her 89th birthday.

Marcia was born on March 25, 1936 in Glasgow Montana to Edward and Lillian Tade. She died peacefully of natural causes the morning of her birthday on March 25, 2025.

Marcia attended school in Nashua and Glasgow, graduating in 1954 from Glasgow High School. She married Duane Johnson in November 1954. From that union came Mickie Simonson, Helena, Steve (Dana), Bozeman, and Wallace Dean “Dino” (Vickie), Gig Harbor.

After her separation from Duane she married Alex Zygmond and moved to Havre Montana. After Alex’s retirement they moved to Mesa Arizona to enjoy the warmer weather. Alex died on July 4, 2005 and Macia moved back to Montana a year later to be closer to her family.

Marcia was preceded in death by her parents Edward and Lillian Tade, husbands Duane Johnson and Alex Zygmond, brothers Edward Tade Jr and Marvin Tade, sisters Helen Elkin and LaDonna Sauer, son-in-law Rick Simonson and a great great grandson Wakuwa Red Eagle.

She is survived by her brother Ron (Norma) Tade of Scobey, daughter Mickie of Helena, sons Steve (Dana) Johnson Bozeman and Dino (Vickie) Johnson of Gig Harbor. 13 grandchildren, 44 great grandchildren and 14 great-great grandchildren and beloved nieces and nephews.

Mom had fun stories about growing up on the farm between Nashua and Glasgow and would laugh every time she told them. Her and her sister LaDonna would light heartedly disagree on whose fault the mischievous behavior they had was. Even in her later years she would show off her tumbling prowess that she learned from her dad. She was very proud of her children and grandchildren and it was the highlight of her life when they came to visit. She was known as the “Queen Bee” at BeeHive homes in Helena by her grandchildren that work there. She lived in an independent unit at BeeHive the last several years of her wonderful life.

A memorial service is planned for 11:00 AM on April 4, 2025 at Anderson Stevenson Wilke Funeral Home, 3750 Montana Ave, Helena, MT.  To accommodate her wishes her ashes will be put to rest near her parents at Highland Cemetery in Glasgow in early July, 2025.
