In Memory Of

Marcia Louise Beatty, age 79 of Helena formerly of Huntingdon Pennsylvania

October 23, 1933 – July 10, 2013

Marcia Louise Morrison Beatty passed away peacefully on July 10, 2013 in Helena Montana. She was born to David Clair Morrison and Eva Lorena (Baumgardner) Morrison on October 23, 1933 in Petersburg, Pennsylvania. Marcia graduated from Juniata Valley High School in 1951.   Marcia’s first job was in the Bursar’s Office at Penn State University.  Most of her career was spent at Juniata Valley School District.  She married James Curtis Beatty on June 19, 1954 in Mooresville, Pennsylvania. They were blessed with the arrival of their daughter Lori (Beatty) Ladas in 1965.

Marcia lost the love of her life on November 8, 1966, but she carried on and raised her daughter with love and sacrifice. Raising Lori was Marcia’s greatest accomplishment.  Marcia loved Lori’s husband Nick and their two children, Sydney and Alec and spent many wonderful months visiting Lori and her family in Montana.  She finally moved to Helena in 2011.

Marcia was a loving mother and grandmother.  She was a faithful and generous friend and she will be remembered for her quick wit.  Marcia found her faith with the Crever Memorial United Methodist church in Petersburg and was an active member for many years. After retiring from full-time work at the school district, she continued to stay active in volunteering at the United Way of Huntingdon County and working at Edgewater Acres resort.  Always a lover of cats, Marcia found great joy in making sure no cats in Petersburg went hungry.

Marcia is survived by her daughter Lori (Nick) Ladas and her grandchildren Sydney and Alec.  She was preceded in death by her husband James Curtis Beatty, parents David Clair Morrison and Eva Lorena (Baumgardner) Morrison and her brother John Robert Morrison.

A celebration of Marcia’s life will be held at the Petersburg Crever Memorial United Methodist Church on Saturday, July 20 at 10 a.m.  She will be laid to rest afterwards at the Mooresville Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Hospice of St. Peter’s Hospital c/o St. Peter’s Hospital, 2475 Broadway, Helena, MT 59601.  The family would like to thank Our House Assisted Living and Hospice of St. Peter’s for their loving and compassionate care during Marcia’s last days.
