Margaret Ann Cox Safley, passed on January 6th, 2016 in Helena.
Margaret is survived by her son, Dr. Douglas A. Safley of Havre, and her daughter, Deborah A. Corak of Helena; her grandchildren, Anthony Snell, Beau Snell, and Ryan Safley also survive her, as well as 3 great-grandchildren, Blu Snell, Zoe Snell and Izzabella Snell. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bruce A. Safley in 1995.
Born July 3, 1922, Margaret was raised in Bozeman, and attended Montana State University, graduating with a degree in Secretarial studies. She was a member of Mortar Board, Spurs, and Alpha Omicron Pi sorority, and graduated with honors.
Margaret married Bruce A. Safley in 1944. They relocated in Great Falls in 1954 where Margaret was an at-home mom until 1965 when she began a 19-year career as a Deputy County Treasurer for Cascade County. After retiring, she volunteered at the Deaconess Hospital in Great Falls for 18 years.
Margaret was a member of Christ United Methodist Church. She spent the last 4 years of her life at Touchmark in Helena.
There will be a memorial service on Friday, January 15th, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at Anderson Stevenson Wilke Funeral Home, 3750 N. Montana Ave., Helena. We will celebrate a life well lived. Memorials are suggested to Rocky Mountain Hospice, 1075 N Rodney St Suite 102, Helena, MT 59601.

We worked together in the volunteer program at the Benefits Hospital and I enjoyed Margaret’s friendship. She was missed when she moved to Helena. I am sorry for her family’s loss.
