Marjorie Ellen Eicher, 91, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 23, 2020 at Silver Springs Assisted Living in Townsend, MT where she had been living for the last five months of her life.
Marjorie was born on January 24, 1929 in Trucksville, PA to Harold and Addie Hawley, and was the sixth of nine siblings.
Marjorie graduated from Vestal Central High in Vestal, New York in 1947. The summer she graduated, her sense of adventure and courage led her to board the train in New York and cross the country to live with her brother in Entiat, WA. There she worked in the apple orchards in Wenatchee until she moved to Portland, OR. It was during her time in Portland, that Marjorie met Wilmer Eicher, whom she married on November 4th, 1950. While residing in Portland, Elaine, the first of their three children was born and shortly thereafter, they moved to Eugene, OR where both Linda and Martha were born.
In 1991, they moved to Helena, MT to be closer to their children as their daughters had met Montana spouses and had settled within 50 miles of each other. Marjorie was very active in the outdoors, enjoying hiking, skiing, skating, and gardening. She was an amazing quilter and enjoyed helping her daughters and being involved with her many grandchildren. In 1944 at the age of 15, Marjorie made a lifelong choice to serve the Lord and her solid faith kept her grounded in a truth that continued to lead and guide her through her life’s journey. It is this faith that was the source of many dear friendships to Marjorie and to the very end kept her encouraged.
Marjorie was the last of her siblings and is survived by her three daughters, Elaine (Rick) Kitto, Linda (Rod) Kitto and Martha (Dave) Gardner. She is survived by eight grandchildren; Marni (Jory) Thompson, Craig (Lana) Kitto, Alisha (Philip) Knaub, Todd (Kay) Kitto, Brittney Kitto (Mike Ray), Jason (Mindy) Gardner, Curtis Gardner (Elora Akins) and Eric (Cheyenne) Gardner all of whom have many fond memories of time spent with her; 14 great grandchildren, and one great, great grandson whom she met a few days before she passed away. The day she met him; Marjorie commented that her life was made of many good memories and now there is a great memory added. Marjorie is also survived by many extended family and friends.
A special thank you to Tiffany and the crew at Silver Springs Assisted Living for your wonderful care for our mother for the last 5 months.

I have precious memories of visits with Marge at Boring Convention through the years. She was always so happy and easy to be around. I remember you, too, Elaine…please know that my heart is remembering your family these days. It’s so painful to say goodbye to Mama. Just know that heaven is sweeter still as God welcomes another faithful child home. 💞, Heather

I well remember Marge & Wilmer & their 3 daughters. The girls were the best of friends with our 4 daughters growing up together in eugene. We always enjoyed fellowship with Marge & Wilmer…missed them when they moved to Montana
Dan & Mildred Eicher says
Our deepest condolences. Wilmer and Margie were our favorite traveling companions. Margie is my age but 19 days older and we never let her forget that. She will be missed but at the same time glad that the struggle is over. U. Henry always said “life is a struggle”. Now she has a new life with Jesus in His heavenly kingdom.
Kurt Goodson says
The Eicher’s and the Goodson’s go back a long way. My Mom and Dad often spoke of different ones through the years. I remember being in your home in Eugene a couple different times. Just drove down 18th the other day and looked up the hill toward where I seem to remember your house might have been. Seems like we saw Wilmer and Margie often at Saginaw and not too many years ago saw Margie the last time at Boring. Now they’re both gone. So thankful we have much more than just natural memories of days gone by. Thankful eternity is something we can look forward too. Thinking of all the family now and thankful for the Comforter who can mean so much at a time like this.

Wonderful memories of your parents when they moved to LaGrande. Often think of them with a chuckle, walking to get a donut for exercise. JoAnn Wise

I would also like to say that I am thinking of you all at this time with the loss of your mother. It was always a pleasure to see your mom and dad off and on through the years. I am so thankful that I will be able to listen to the service through the conference call number dialing up on the computer even from Dubai. It makes the world so much smaller with the modern technology that we can listen to a funeral service from afar. Thoughts are with you. Love and care, Linda
Duane and Barb Durkee says
Our thoughts are with all of you as we remember Marge. We are thankful that Marge has gone on to something far greater than this life, something that she mentioned often in Meeting. We were privileged to have Marge and Wilmer meet with us for many years, and are thankful for their faithful influence in our Meeting.
Our love, Duane and Barb

Thinking of you all so often these last few days—and especially today! Hard to realize that both of your folks are gone now. I still remember the very first time we met Wilmer and Margie. They had just moved to Eugene, and were sitting in front of my folks and myself, who was just a little girl, at Saginaw Convention. They only had Elaine then–a bouncy, darling little blond-haired, blue-eyed toddler! That began a friendship between your family and our family that has lasted all these years. I remember many Sunday afternoons, or Friday evenings, spent with our families together at one house or the other. Our parents would often play board games together while the little kids played together–making lots of noise! Or sometimes we’d enjoy watching the Eicher’s home movies which were always interesting. Marge was actually the one who made my wedding dress for me. So many memories over the years—but mostly thankful for their faithfulness. She/They will be missed!
