Margie Maxine (Hull) Hickman passed away August 25th at her home outside of Wolf Creek, MT. She was born on September 9, 1941 in Newburg Township, Pike County, Illinois to Pearl Dean Hull Sr. and Wilma Matilda (Friesland) Hull. She was the youngest of seven children, with one sister and five brothers, including her twin brother George. She graduated from Meredosia/Chambersburg High School in 1959. Margie was a member of the Chambersburg Christian Church where she and Richard Arlen Hickman of Meredosia, Illinois were married on July 22, 1958. She earned her associates degree in Computer Science from John Wood Community College in Quincy, IL.
In 1959, Richard and Margie were blessed with their first child Margie Arlene, Richard Edward followed in 1960, Vicky Marie in 1961, David Lee in 1963, and Patricia Ann in 1965. Richard was in the US Air Force and the family followed him in his duty assignments to places such as Nebraska, Bermuda, Washington, Japan, Montana, and the Philippines. Richard and Margie fell in love with Montana and eventually retired outside of Wolf Creek.
Margie loved sewing, reading, gardening, cooking (after her husband taught her how!), canning, and travelling to see her family in other states. She was an active member of the Military Wives Club in Japan, serving terms as treasurer and president. While living in Japan, Margie hosted Japanese college students, helping them to improve their English and learn about life and culture in the United States. Margie could sew anything or take a pattern and adjust it any way she chose. She made clothes for her children, husband, and herself until her illness prevented her from sitting at the sewing machine.
Margie is survived by her husband, Richard, her five children, Margie Mercer of Great Falls, MT, Richard Hickman (Jody) of Belgrade, MT, Vicky Jahraus (Steven) of Great Falls, MT, David Hickman (Mary) of Wolf Creek, MT, and Patricia Ann Paul (Ralph) of Normal, IL. She is also survived by eleven grandchildren, twenty-eight great-grandchildren, her twin brother George (Ruth Ann), her Aunt June, sisters-in-law Beulah, Helen, Bonnie, and Barbara, brother-in-law William, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Waunita Wilma, her brothers Pearl Dean Jr., Donald Melvin, Russell Wayne, Howard Eugene, and great grandson Nathan Paul.
Margie may have been small in stature but she was great in spirit and will be greatly missed by all who love her.

I will miss Margie very much, praying for her and the family. She was my Sister-In-Law, but she was more like a sister to me. Especially when I needed advice on anything at all. She was a very smart, religious, and just a wonderful lady. Rip my sister you will be missed, love you.

Margie was quite the fighter as shown by how she battled with her disease for so long.

My deepest condolences to the family, Margie was one of my favorite co-workers at BCBSMT. She always had a smile for everyone and was willing to share in a joke. I still prize the African Violets she gave to me when she had to retired from BCBSMT. They are blooming like crazy. I admired her greatly. The statement above that says she was small in stature but great in spirit described her so very well.
