Maria Peterson went to be with our Lord on January 2, 2015. She was born in Poland on September 19, 1920 as Maria Sywek. She married Boleslaw (Ben) Balcerzak in 1944 in Germany.
The family of six immigrated to Conrad, Montana in 1949 where additional children were born; the Balcerzak’s displaced persons came here through the efforts of the Catholic Church. After the death of Boleslaw she married Bud Peterson.
She is survived by her sons Joe (Linda) Balcerzak, Ben (Lori) Balcerzak, Gene (Christine) Balcerzak; daughter-in-law, Jenny Balcerzak; Chuck Blanchard along with multiple grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Boleslow Balcerzak and Bud Peterson; children, Francis (Donella) Balcerzak, Richard Balcerzak and Kristie Lamping.
Public viewing will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 7th at Anderson Stevenson Wilke Funeral Home, 3750 N. Montana Ave. A funeral liturgy will be held on Thursday, January 8th at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow the funeral liturgy at Forestvale Cemetery in Helena. Following the burial there will be a reception in the social hall of the funeral home. Memorials in Maria’s name may be sent to the Lewis and Clark Humane Society, P.O. Box 4455, Helena, MT 59604.
