Marie Irene (Lorenzen) McManus
October 12th, 1944 – July 22nd, 2025
Marie Irene (Lorenzen) McManus passed away unexpectedly at St. Peter’s Hospital in Helena, Montana. She was 80 years old.
Marie was born on October 12, 1944, in Albert Lea, Minnesota, to Thomas and Irene Lorenzen, the youngest of their children. She graduated from Albert Lea High School in the Class of 1962 and began working as a dental assistant shortly after.
In 1964, Marie traveled to Germany with her parents to visit extended family – a trip she cherished deeply. On December 30, 1967, she married Robert “Bob” McManus. The two recently celebrated 57 wonderful years of marriage, sharing a life filled with love, laughter, muskie fishing adventures, movie nights, and loving visits with family and friends.
In 1976, Marie and her family moved to Arvada, Colorado, where she worked first as a cashier and later as a teacher’s aide for special needs students – a role that reflected her deep patience, compassion, and dedication to others. In 1993, the family relocated to Barron, Wisconsin, where she continued her work with the Barron Area School District until her retirement in 2014.
After retiring, Marie moved to Clancy, Montana, to be closer to family. She found great joy in spending time with her loved ones and made many lasting friendships within the Stoney Brook community. She especially enjoyed playing cards and other games with her neighbors and friends.
Marie is survived by her devoted husband, Bob McManus; her son, Tom McManus of Helena, MT; and her grandson, Drew McManus of Phoenix, AZ. She is also survived by her sister, Caroline Neale of Albert Lea, MN; nieces Shannon and Peggy, and nephew David, all of Minneapolis, MN; stepson Ty (Debbie) McManus and step-grandchildren Julia and Matthew McManus of Milan, TN.
She was preceded in death by her parents Thomas and Irene (Ohm) Lorenzen.
Marie was known for her strong Christian faith and unwavering values, which guided the way she loved, laughed, and selflessly gave her time to those in need. Her warmth, strength, and grace will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
A celebration of Marie’s life will be held from 1:00 to 5:00 PM on August 1st, 2025, at the Stoney Brook Clubhouse in Clancy, Montana. All who knew her are welcome to attend and share memories in honor of her life.
