Marilyn Josephine Samson passed away on December 15, 2017, at the age of 89, at her home in Elsie’s Assisted Living in Belgrade, MT. Marilyn was born to Joseph and Florence (Drury) Hyland on September 19, 1928, in Salt Lake City, Utah.
On July 25, 1946, Marilyn married the love of her life, Richard Samson. To this union they brought six children: Linda McCauley (Tim), Susan Kiebert (Kermit), Richard Samson (Darlene), Robert Samson, Carol Gullickson (Steve), Mark Samson (Kellie). Marilyn also is survived by her 15 grandchildren: Sean, Marc, Anne (John), Brittany, Andrea, Regan, Mikaela, Greg, Eric (Lizzie), Marilyn (Matt), Sarah (Quinton), Kyle (Brooke), Marc (Katie), Tricia (Travis) and 15 Great Grandchildren.
Marilyn’s hobbies included St. Ann’s School PTA, along with being involved with SS Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church in East Helena, MT as well as St. Helena Cathedral in Helena.
Marilyn is preceded in death by her husband of 50 years Richard Samson; parents, Joseph Hyland, Florence Griffith; and brother, Mark Griffith.
A Rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 20th at Retz Funeral Home, 315 E. 6th Avenue. A Funeral Mass will be at 12:00p.m., Thursday, December 21st at the Cathedral of St. Helena, 530 N. Ewing Street, with a reception immediately following in the Brondel Center of the Cathedral. A Rite of Committal will follow the reception at Resurrection Cemetery at 2:30 p.m.
