Mark Lee Busby passed away on 4/7/2020 in Helena, MT. He was born 3/10/83 in Spokane, WA. Mark was a graduate of Christian Heritage High School.
As a child Mark was inquisitive, inventive and never met a person he could not make a friend. He spoke early and never quit. He fell and got up more than times in any given day then one would want to count. When only 2 years of age he disappeared from his mother’s sight and had taken off over a couple of acres to go to find the children playing outside down the street on their 5-acre parcel. His mom only found him by call for his dog Rags who always watched over him. His dad encouraged his love of the outdoors with hiking, camping, and fishing. Mark was a cub scout but sports, especially basketball took too much time so left scouting. Hiking and camping continued to be part of his life, so he enjoyed the many opportunities in Montana and his home state of Washington. He already had planned for a trip this summer to Lolo Pass.
One of his teachers in High School stated that if you wanted a good party you needed to invite Mark because he would help everyone have a good time. On a mission to downtown Spokane with his church group he sat down on the bench next to an elderly woman and spoke with her for over an hour. He was a voracious reader and always pushed his brother Adam to pick up the next Robert Jordan. He shared a love of Tom Clancy with his father. Music was in his blood and if there was a piano he would sit down and pick out a tune.
Mark as a teenager was the go-to guy for a helping hand or a listening ear. He was still friends with almost all his previous girlfriends. If your boyfriend did you wrong, you called Mark and he would listen. Advanced schooling was not his bent but… it was thought he would have made a wonderful counselor. Mark was a true people person and a very loyal friend. Mark was an avid gamer but needed contact with people face to face. He traveled to New York City one year to a get together of many of his gaming friends.
He worked as waiter in Spokane and enjoyed good foods and serving people and all the conversations. One of his employers wrote a glowing letter about his charismatic personality. When he moved to Montana he continued working as a waiter and doing banquets. He had been a delivery person for DHL in Spokane so was able to get on as a warehouse worker with UPS.
Mark worked hard in many varied jobs. He was a hard worker and not afraid of learning new things. He last worked as a moving man.
Jobs were a way to keep paying bills, but his true love was the wilderness and nature. Hiking, camping, and fishing were his true passions as well as supporting Hannah and her endeavors. Being in nature showed him God’s presence and enabled him to reach out.
Mark was predeceased by his brother Brice Busby, Renton WA. He is survived by his parents Clarence and Deborah Busby, Taylors, SC and brothers Captain Adam Busby, Joint Base Hickam, Pearl Harbor, HI and Brian Busby, Army retired, Eagle River, AK. His life partner was Hannah Williams, Helena MT.

I had the pleasure of meeting, working with, and becoming friends with Mark a few years ago at the Silver Star. To say he was a joy to be around would be a huge understatement. My sympathies to Hannah, Marks family and anyone who was lucky enough to call him a friend.

I have fond memories of Family Reuinons as kids at Oyster Bay collecting jelly fish with Mark, and of flying out and visiting Bob Jones University with Mark in our teen years. He had such a great sense of humor and love for music as mentioned previously. I am sooo sad that he has passed away, but expect to see him some day in Heaven. He was a great 2nd cousin and I regret the fact we didn’t chat on Facebook and just commented on posts once in a long time. Love and hugs to you all ♡.

Buzz, Deb, Adam and Hannah, I am so sorry about the loss of Mark! He was such a light with his precocious wsys! The way he would do something mischievous and then grin at you, snapping those blue eyes with a “What? Who me? I didn’t really mean too!” Look! His ability to take a thought and run in a direction you never would have thought! He will be missed! It’s beyond me to imagine your feelings! May God fill your hearts with great memories!

Busby’s and Hannah our thoughts and prayers are with you. Mark was a unique and loving guy.
He was cheerful, open and always friendly. The “kids” in our Jensen Road neighborhood said he could make a friend in 30 seconds. Decades later the neighborhood “gang” stayed connected; hiking and celebrating birthdays. We remember him as a little boy having a boundless imagination ; getting married during recess
in the first grade. Deb & Buzz, THANK YOU for the beautiful tribute you wrote.
LOVE, Chris, Frank,Joe, Matt, Deepali, Danny
