Mary F. Murgel passed away on February 18, 2014. She was born in Helena on January 30, 1929. Mom lived a very happy life and would do anything for anyone that needed help. She was a very hard worker until she finally retired in August 2013, at the age of 84. At that time she worked for the city of Helena.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Murgel; son, Eddie Murgel; sisters Dorothy and Mimi; and brother Ed.
Mary is survived by her children, Debbie Schramm, Joe Murgel, David Murgel and Randy Murgel and their three spouses. Mary has two surviving siblings, Bob Strainer and Betty Herter. She had many grandchildren of whom she did love and care for. She will be missed by many people; she touched a lot of lives in her years. Mom, you will be missed. You were my mentor and my best friend and I was glad to have the time with you in your time if illness.
Mary’s family wants to thank Rocky Mountain Hospice for the kind and loving care she was given and the loving support they gave the family at the time of her death. Mom did not suffer, she was very peaceful.
So now she will be with the angels and her family in Heaven. I want to thank Country Life LLC in Montana City for the short time my Mom was able to stay, for the kind and loving care everyone gave her. It made her last hours very peaceful and comfortable. One last thing, Mom, you will always be in our hearts, our prayers, and our thoughts. You were a good mother.
Mom’s Wishes were to have no funeral services, because, “if no one could come see me alive, why bother when I’m deceased.”

Auntie Babe,
So much of your pride and joy in this world was being able to get up every day and go to work. That alone says so much about your character, honesty and integrity! When you could no longer do that I think you felt like you had lost your purpose in this world. You always gave me a great big hug whenever we ran into each other and I thank you so much for that! I know you are out of pain and at peace and have joined all the other hardworking angels in heaven.
You will be missed, but I’m comforted knowing I will see you again.
God be with you
Your niece – Rhonda

Debbie, Joe, David and Randy – I am so sorry for your loss. It is so hard to lose a parent. I have so many wonderful memories of your family from when I was small – one in particular was playing war and I was a nurse. Living down the street gave a lot of opportunities to get to know your parents. For years I had interaction with your mom through the East Helena VFW and Sts. Cyril & Methodius Church. I have lived in Bozeman the past 12 years so our paths did not cross very often. Please know that she is now with Frank and Eddie. Thinking of you at this difficult time.

I am so sorry to hear of Mary’s passing. She always treated me very kindly. When she retired I missed seeing her walking to work and stopping to give her a ride. She also made the best “sarma” ever. Always had hugs and a smile. Mary rest in peace and know that you will be missed.

My thoughts and prayers go out to Murgel and Strainer families. Mary and Frank along with their children were such a special part of my life. I worked for them at the store and valued their friendship. Many evenings spent in the Murgel home enjoying Mary’s warm hospitality. Your mom touched so many lives in so many ways. Please know how much she was loved. With much love, Glen

I was saddened to read of Marys death. I will always cherish the time she helped with Dave’s garage sale. Her comment to me was “There is so much stuff here and more everywhere else. I don’t know why he doesn’t throw some of this in the trash, that is where it belongs”. We had a good laugh at that. Know I am thinking of all of you at this time and offering prayers love and hugs.

Mary was one terrific lady. We had such good times when she worked for the Drug Store. Always cleaning and there was lots of that to do. She made my girls dolls for Christmas and they still have them some 30 yrs later. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you.

Auntie Babe:
With no disrespect to Aunties Maggie and Dorothy, but you were my favorite Aunt. I’m sure it’s because we shared the same birthday. I have a home movie (dad probably took it) of my first birthday. We are at your house for a big family birthday party. Myrth is holding Connie on one side, Uncle Frankie is holding Joey (us three cousins were all born within 4 months of each other) and you are holding me on your lap while everyone sings and then you and I blow out the candles. So glad to have documentation of this memory that will always be dear to my heart.
I’m so grateful I came to see you in Dec. when I was there. We had such a great visit. I held your hand and we laughed about so much. You kept saying that you were going to get better soon so you could go back to work. “The place must have been falling down without me around”, you said. I agreed with you but knew it would not be happening. I agree with Rhonda, when you realized that you couldn’t go back to work, you lost your purpose here on the earth and were ready to move on to bigger and better things. I’m sure you are very busy up there in Heaven, cleaning and organizing and making sure everyone stays in line…..LOL. They are lucky to have you!!!!
Heartfelt prayers and best wishes to my cousins, David, Randy, Joey, Debbie and their families. Here’s hoping that you will find peace and comfort in knowing that your mom is free from pain and able to clean and work as much as her blessed little heart desires. I’m sure it was a joyful reunion with your dad, brother, her brothers and sisters and all those who have gone before.
Until we meet again. I love you, Auntie Babe.
