Molly Munro was born to original homesteaders near Dutton on August 7, 1926. She attended a one-room schoolhouse before entering Dutton High School where she met Richard “Dick” Munro” who she would later marry after he returned from combat in the Army Air Force in WWII. In her junior and senior years, she was a boarding student at the Ursuline Academy in Great Falls before embarking on a much-interrupted college career in which, in 1986, she earned her BA in Sociology at Carroll College at the age of 60.
Molly was a master at setting up households, packing and moving, because Dick’s careers took them to 25 different locations across the Atlantic and Gulf Coasts and the Western United States including Great Falls, Helena and Kalispell, Montana.
Molly loved working and served as an office manager, bookkeeper, teacher, legislative session staffer, bank teller, law firm administrative secretary, professional association executive secretary, and marketing agent. She held major offices in community organizations involved with the Catholic Church, women voters, business and professional women, women accountants, aging, nursing administration, the developmentally disabled, retired teachers and Montana history. She was most proud of her years with the National Legislative Council of AARP and was awarded the Diana Award from Epsilon Sigma Alpha International for exceptional service to humanity in 1991 and the Meritorious Service Award from AARP in 1990.
Molly’s brothers, Michael Loch (Great Falls), and Frank Loch, Jr. of Dutton predeceased her as did her son, Jonathan (Susie) of Kirkland, Washington. She is survived by her sister, Susan Schuler of Brea, California and her children Marty Floyd (Larry) of Bigfork, Greg (Barbara) of Missoula, Kathryn of Helena, and Jesse (Karen) of Missoula, eight grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

A former student of Mrs. Molly Munro, I always admired her zest for work. She was our no nonsense Geography teacher at Bishop Gilmore School, formerly St. Helena School when I knew her. Many accomplishments listed here give tribute to a wonderful life. I remember her playing piano very well too. Taught our class “Down by the Old Mill Stream” among others. RIP Molly!

Yoshiko and I always enjoyed our visits with Molly and Dick in Great Falls and in Helena. We had several fun birthday parties together for Dick’s and Yoshiko’s birthdays. We are so glad we had a chance to have a nice visit with Molly last summer at her cute apartment in Helena.
We are sorry to hear of her passing, but now she is at peace and at home again with Dick. They were such wonderful friends.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to Marty and your brothers and sisters.
God Bless

Molly Munro was a wise and kind woman. She raised an outstanding group of children, who grew up near our family in Helena. She was a highly effective lobbyist for AARP at the Montana Legislature. She worked hard on bills to protect seniors from being ripped off by those criminals who preyed on the elderly with costly scams. Molly was able to get some prominent people to go public with stories about how they had been bilked. That undoubtedly helped prevent others from facing the same rip-offs. She deserves Montanans’ thanks.

As a Duttonite, Carrol graduate, and former student of Prof. Greg Munro, I really wish I had met this wonderful lady. She sounds awesome. My thoughts and best wishes to the Loch and Munro families. My thanks to Molly Munro for a fine example of a life well spent.

Sending my deepest sympathy to your family during this most challenging time. May the uplifting words of Isaiah 25:8 and Revelation 21:3, 4 strength you for our heavenly father Jehovah God promises that we will see our dead loved ones again and the former things such as death will pass away.

Dear Molly, you were an amazing woman and wonderful mother in law even though you smacked my hand at the supper table which kinda made me wonder what I was getting into for a moment!!!!! We have had so so many funny conversations. You raised a beautiful family which I am so lucky to be a part of. Rest now that you are back in the arms of your loving husband and baby boy. Love, Susie

I was so sad to hear of Molly’s passing but also so glad that Jeanne and I were able to have a long visit with Molly and Dick a few years ago. I have such wonderful memories of family get together’s in Dutton and visits with my grandmother to Molly and Dick when they were in Glacier Park. The Loch Family was sure a big part of my young life in Dutton and I will never forget the great times at the farm and family dinners at Frank and Nell’s here in Great Falls. They were all wonderful people at a wonderful time. Our thoughts and prayers are with all the Munro Family.
