Maureen S. Wignot, age 84, of Helena

Maureen Wignot went peacefully to be with the lord on June 26, 2013 after a courageous battle with cancer.

Maureen was born on March 2, 1929 on a family farm near Hardwood, Oklahoma. Maureen was the fifth of seven children born to Ernest and Bertha Smith. Maureen and her family moved to Port Chicago, California when she was 12 years old. She met her husband, Robert, in California and they lived in California, New Hampshire, Maine, Kansas and Utah while Robert was attending various levels of college.

Maureen was primarily a housewife, but also worked in her early career at a soil testing lab and a cannery testing lab. Maureen and Robert retired to Arkansas and later to Idaho and finally Helena, Montana. Maureen and Robert spent many enjoyable days in retirement golfing.

Maureen was preceded in death by her husband, Robert, brothers Carl and Dewey, sisters Marvel, Marie, Maxine and her parents. Maureen is survived by her sister Merna, her son Michael (Cheryl), granddaughters Kasi (Ray) Root, great grandchildren Dylan and Bailey Root, granddaughter Kayla Fleming, granddaughter Demi Wignot, son Ken Wignot, grandsons Clint Wignot, great granddaughter Annalise Wignot, grandson Wesley Wignot, daughter Nancy (Larry) Breyer, grandson Shawn Kaffun and great grandson  Johnathon Kaffun.

Viewing hours will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 P.M. Tuesday, July 2nd at Anderson Stevenson Wilke Funeral Home. Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 3^rd, 2013 at Anderson Stevenson Wilke Funeral Home, 3750 N. Montana Ave. Burial will follow the funeral service at Montana State Veterans Cemetery at Fort Harrison. A reception will follow the burial in the social hall at Anderson Stevenson Wilke Funeral Home.
