Emma “Maxine” Olsen, age 80, went to be with our Lord and Savior on Wednesday, September 4, 2019.
Maxine was born May 9, 1939 in Princeton, West Virginia to Johnathan McKinley and Eva Victoria Quesenberry Osborne. In 1952 the family moved to Helena, MT, where Maxine met and married the love of her life, Eugene Carl Olsen, on June 21, 1958.
Maxine worked for Empire Office Machines, Northwestern Bank and later as the bookkeeper for West Helena Valley Fire Department until she became ill. Maxine had a passion for caring for and nurturing children. Having 4 children of their own was not enough, they fostered several children and adopted a six month old boy, Scott.
Maxine enjoyed serving at the Nazarene Church where she attended for many years. Maxine is preceded in death by her parents, John (Mac) and Eva Osborne, stepmothers, Edith Harvey Osborne and Pearl Proffitt Osborne, as well as sisters, Ruth Roland, Joyce Dobbins, Faye McPherson, brothers J.D. Osborne, Junior Osborne, David Osborne, and a stepbrother William “Bill” Harvey. Maxine will be remembered by her husband of 61 years, Gene, children Sharon (Jim) Foster, Karen (Joe) Eve, Ken (Debbie) Olsen, Daryl (Leslie) Olsen and Scott (Libby) Olsen, 17 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren; siblings, Bud Osborne, Elmer (Marilyn) Osborne, Tom (Gwen) Osborne, Frank (Rose) Osborne, Margaret Smith Carnes, stepsisters Jean Green and Shirley (David) Ellis, as well as several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Dr. Strekall, St Peter’s Hospice and Apple Rehab Cooney staff for their tenderness and loving care of Maxine.
The Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, September 13, 2019 at The Nazarene Church, 117 Valley Dr. Helena, MT. A reception will follow the service in the fellowship hall of the church. Please visit below to offer the family a condolence or share a memory of Maxine.

Maxine would pick me and my mom up for church. I babysat for her two daughters. She was the foster mother of my nieces Doris and THERESA the later my niece Ashley, nephews Matt and Tyson. I spent a lot of time with her sister Ruth. I was baptized in her sister Joyce’s back yard. Maxine will be missed by so many people, she touched so many lives
