On Saturday, June 2, 2012 at 9:00 p.m. our beloved Mother, Grandmother and Great-grandmother, Maxine V. Harvey passed peacefully and sweetly into the arms of her beloved Savior and Lord surrounded by family at St. Peter’s Hospital in Helena, Montana. She was born Vesta Maxine Stevens on July 14, 1921 in Tacoma, WA to Clifford and Helen Stevens.
Maxine attended schools in Tacoma, WA and in San Francisco, CA working her way through graduation from Girls High School as a Nanny to the Mcormick family where she fell in love with their daughters: Joan (Alan) Hahn of San Jose, CA and Patsy (Tony) Sullivan of Pacifica, CA, where she attended Healds Business College.
She moved to Reno, NV in 1946 where she met the love of her life, Thomas G. Harvey. They wed on July 3, 1948. They had two sons, Daniel T. Harvey of Portola, CA and Paul D. Harvey of Helena, MT. She worked in various positions at Washoe Medical Center in Reno and in 1960, she attained her Broker’s License, opening Harvey Realty and Thomas soon joined in the endeavor while maintaining his career with Bell Telephone. They retired in 1980 and traveled extensively until his demise in 1994. She volunteered with many organizations and was a member of the Order of Eastern Star and is a Past Matron thereof. She also had a sparkling relationship with the Reno Emblem Club holding many offices. In 1977, she introduced the SFSFCA Hearing Dog Program to that association.
Maxine was a 12th generation Bushnell, descendant of William Bushnell who settled in Conn. in 1585. In 2008, she moved back to Helena to be near her son, Paul and his family. She is survived by a son, Paul; daughter-in-law, Donna, and their children, Misty, Ericka, Michael and Joel; Misty’s son, Colton Harvey; Ericka’s son, Logan Schwope; Misty and Troy Moden’s son, Jacob Moden; Troy’s sons, Ryker and Tyzer; Ericka and Doug Loessberg’s son, Noah; soon to be introduced Michael Harvey and Kylie Howard’s little daughter, Brycynn, expected in August of this year; and Kylie’s daughter, Bailee. Also surviving are son, Daniel and Linda Harvey of Portola, CA and his son, David Harvey of Fallon, NV; as well as a grandson, Johnathan.
There will be a potluck celebration of Maxine’s life with her local church, Morningstar International Fellowship, 1015 Poplar St. in Helena and the family will begin receiving friends at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 10th. Maxine will be cremated and returned to Reno to be interred with her Husband, his parents, Thomas H. and Margaret, and her grandson, (Daniel) John Paul.
