CHAMBERS, Mel-Iden, age 93 of Helena passed away Friday, March 4, 2016. A memorial service celebrating Mel’s life will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday March 12 at the Liberty Baptist Church, 210 Sierra Road West. A reception will immediately follow the service in the social hall of the church.

Bill and Mel Chambers were my parents best friends long before my sister and I were born. They were our Godparents. I had the honor of reuniting with them while living in Arizona and we have seen each other and stayed in touch regularly since 2002. I am deeply saddened by Mel’s passing. However, at some point, we all need to “go home to God”. She was a wonderful person and had a fabulous life here on earth. I love you forever Mel and the quilt your mother Gertrude made so many years ago is one of my very dearest possessions.

I found Aunt Mel to be very kind and quick to share a laugh with me as a youngster. She was very friendly with my mom, and was a great letter writer of news of she and Uncle Bill’s journeys. I have fond memories of her.
