Melvin “Mel” Henry Boone, 66, passed away Aug. 18, 2010, at his home in East Helena following a long battle with bladder cancer, kidney failure and congestive heart failure.
He was born on Sept. 23, 1943, in Helena to Joe and Donna Boone. He spent his life working hard in the dairy and ranching industry, including over 20 years at the Wes Johnson Dairy.
At the time of his death he was employed by Mark Deihl doing ranching and fencing work. He was a hard-working, humble, loving man who greatly enjoyed being around his family. He will be greatly missed by all who were fortunate to know him.
He is survived by his wife, Geney Boone; daughter, Teresa Dye (Mike) of Seattle; daughter Leasa Wilson of Helena; daughter Melissa Drivdahl (Rick) of Helena; son Keith Boone; brother Don Boone (Sue) of Helena; brother Ed Boone (Vicky) of Kansas; brother Bill Boone of Kansas; grandchildren LJ Hoar, Jared Hoar, and Melva Rogina; great-grandchildren, Melvin Henry Hoar and Timothy Andrew Hoar; and many others.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Fred Boone and Tom Boone; sister Josephine Willingham; and granddaughter Rachel Hoar.
Cremation and a memorial service have already occurred.
