Mike and I started our friendship when he, his mom, (Connie), Denny, and Dino moved to Sumner Washington back in 1976. Through the years we shared countless adventures and memories that I cherish to this day! Mike was a big influence in my life. He helped me expand my horizon, introduced me to people I am still friends with to this day! He bought me my first fly rod and taught me how to fly fish. He helped me get hired at Fred Meyer that lasted 18 years! He also was a big part of getting me to move up to Alaska! When Mike started his own business, he gave me a job and helped me learn a trade in the marble and granite industry.
Mike “Big J”, has had a huge impact on my life, and will continue to do so until my last day!
Thank you, Mike. I love you and you will be missed!

I’m deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Mike, certainly gone too soon, but never forgotten. Wishing comfort and peace to his family and all who knew them.
    God bless

Some people are just larger than life and you think will live forever. Mike was one of those guys. He will forever live in our hearts. I have so many childhood memories of him. Rest big fella.

Mike was my very first love. The friends we had together shaped my life. Tom, Bill, Matt, and many more.
I am so sad to hear this. We spent many hours just loving each other.

Mike was such a great guy back in junior high already. He was kind to everyone and respectful. He was a leader in how to treat others. He is missed

Mike was always kind to me and fun to be around. I remember after my uncle Sandy Barr had brought a few wrestlers to Sumner. When he had a match at the Kingdome my uncle said I could bring some friends, Mike,Todd, Ralph , and a few others came with me and had a great time meeting the wrestlers. I don’t think they ever forgot that! Many fun times. Mike had a big, kind heart. 💜 praying for his family and friends! RIP Mike

Not an easy letter to write. I was already missing this guy. Big J. One of my favorite memories was playing football in between he and Tim Sader’s houses with the whole gang, skateboarding down the hill, getting in trouble in general. Played sports with Mike what a great center and an exceptional long snapper. Life separates you at times and brings you together at times also. I was lucky enough to get some good together time with Mike over the years. Running boats on the river, fishing, snow machining, skiing,4 wheeling and maybe a couple beers along the way. I even worked for Mike for a time and we completed several projects he had contracted. With the help of many of his friends ( he always had lots) Brian Burleson, Alan Jaquish,Matt Marth, and manny more had worked for him over the years learning the trade of a Stone Mason. Although I’m not much of a craftsmen Mike surely was. He could do intricate and beautiful things with stone as well as finish carpentry with wood. There are many homes I still visit that display his handwork and those he taught. I was already missing Mike we would talk once or twice a year but I had not seen him since he lived in Hamilton Montana. When I called this year on his birthday I did not reach him. I wish I did. Big J might be gone but he certainly will not be forgotten. See you soon brother!!!
