In Memory Of

Michael “Mick” Tucker age 76 of Helena

June 6, 1941 – February 22, 2018

Surrounded by his loving family, Michael A. Tucker “Mick” passed away on February 22, 2018. Mick was born in Helena, Montana to Jack and Marie Tucker on June 6, 1941.  He graduated from Helena High School, attended Seattle University and Carroll College.  Mick married his “Bride”, Joni, on May 21, 1971.

Over the years, Mick worked at Tucker and Clausen Distributing and was currently employed at the Sodexo School System.  Mick enjoyed golfing, bowling, boating, and evenings dancing and dining with his bride, Joni.  Mick thoroughly enjoyed attending the annual Lefty’s and Senior Golf Tournaments with his brothers, harassing his “older sister” Kathy and visiting his sister, Carol.

Later in life, he looked forward to spending time at Nickels with his brothers watching golf, baseball and afternoon naps with Puffer, his cat.

Mick is survived by his wife, Joni; sisters, Kathy Thompson and Carol Henderson; brothers, Tom and Rick Tucker; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and his beloved, Puffer.  He was preceded in death by his father, mother and brother, John.  Anyone who knew Mick also knew he treasured his family.

Joni would like to thank the people who stopped to administer first aid and drive her to the hospital.  Your kindness will never be forgotten.  Also, she would like to thank the wonderful staff at St. Peter’s Hospital.

A celebration of Mick’s life will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Friday, March 2nd at Shellie’s Country Café West (the old Hofbrau), 908 Euclid Ave. Memorials in Mick’s name are suggested to the Lewis & Clark Humane Society, P.O. Box 4455, Helena, MT 59604.

Oh, what a shock! Mickey was a true hero to my family. He workrd for my folks at Weggenmans Mkt for quite a few years. This brought back such endearing memories of his kindness, devotion, commitment …….an amazing human being. There was nothing he wouldn’t do for us. Heaven must have had a joyous reunion of Family and those who felt like Family. Our thoughts and prayers to all of you.

  26. Carol Tucker Henderson says

    February 28, 2018 at 9:49 am

Must write my own thoughts of my dearest brother Mickey, because I knew him in a different way than his friends and acquaintances. He was my Big Brother, he taught me how to drive, we were on the swim team together and traveled throughout the state for swim meets. When my husband was sent to Vietnam, he came to California to bring me back to Montana to be with family, and he and I lived together for a year. During that time, he was a father to my two boys. They still remember this time when “Mick was our Dad”. When I turned 21, he took me for my first drink and laughed when I ordered a Coca Cola. When Dad died, he readily took over the role of “head of the family” and truly was the glue that kept us together. I was in California for almost 40 years, but moved home to Montana when I retired. Mick would stop by my house once or twice a week and we would have wonderful conversations about anything and everything. There was nothing we could not talk about, especially family and our childhood, the neighborhood, the fun we had sleigh riding through the old post office lawn, playing baseball on Washington Place. When I had breast cancer, it was Mickey who changed my dressings and cleaned the drainage tubes. These last ten years with Mickey will be remembered as some of the most incredible of my life. He was truly my best friend. I saw him the day before he died, and when he left, as I always did, I walked him to his car, gave him a hug and said “I love you.” I will always be thankful for that. The Angels in Heaven must have needed a Saint

I am proud to be Mick’s first nephew. He was so good to me and the rest of our family. I know I missed a lot (living in California), but I remember him walking into a room of many people, and quickly talking to everyone with sincere warmth. As a kid, I would wonder why does this cool guy have to go so soon. I always felt good in his presence. I know now that someone with his abundance of good will needs to share it. I am thankful for what I received. It is Heaven’s turn now. I love you Uncle Mick!!! You too Joni. Of course Mom, Kathy, Tom, Rick, Shelly, Jackie. Miss and love you all. Stan was “The Man”! I will see you again Mick!!!!
