In Memory Of

Michael “Mike” Shawn Beyl, 65, of Helena

January 25, 1959 – July 22, 2024

Michael (Mike) Beyl, 65, of Helena, MT passed away peacefully at his home with his family on Monday July 22nd, 2024. Michael Shawn Beyl was born on January 25, 1959 in Sidney, Montana to Elmer and Vander (Bader) Beyl.

Michael was raised by Elmer and Virginia (Falcon) Beyl along with his siblings Del and Karen in Rapid City, South Dakota. His family made Billings, Montana their permanent home in 1972.

Mike was a 1978 graduate from Billings West High where he met Karen Schultes and on May 5, 1979, the two were united in marriage.  The couple returned to Cartwright, North Dakota where he was employed in the oil fields.  In 1981, Mike was blessed with the birth of his daughter Dawn Marie.

From 1982 through 1986, the family resided in Billings where Mike was employed as Maintenance technician.

The couple made their permanent home in Helena Montana in 1987, where together they managed the Almanor Apartments Complex.  In 1994, Mike was blessed again with the birth of his son Bradley Shawn.  His joy continued as later in life he was became a loving papa to 3 wonderful grandchildren Camden, Jet, and Riley.

Michael continued to manage and perform maintenance at the apartment complex for 20 years.  He then became a Weatherization technician employed by Dan Dean Construction working with Low Income Energy Assistance Program.  He achieved State Certification for weatherization and continued helping people in the program until retirement.

Mike enjoyed the outdoors by hunting and fishing with family or friends.  He taught himself how to tie flies for fishing and learned how to reload ammunition from his father-in-law who has proceeded him in death.  They had a strong connection in life as they shared the same birthday and interest.  Mike was passionate when it came to gun shows and showed his passion by marking his calendar .  He had various skills and expressed it through his woodworking and photography.

Mike was always willing to lend a helping hand to family, friends and strangers.  He will be truly missed!

He is survived by his wife Karen; daughter Dawn (Jason) Marcinek, son Brad (Julia) Beyl; grandchildren Camden (Austin) Brooks, Jet Marcinek, Riley Marcinek all of Helena; mother Virgina Beyl of Coeur D’Alene , brother Del (Rene) Beyl of Billings;  sister Karen Beyl of Coeur D’Alene; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

He is proceeded in death by his father Elmer Beyl, Grandparents Ted and Ella Beyl, Uncles and Aunts: Perry and Lil Elletson, Ervin and Ruth Martin.

Michael was a 1st cousin. I am 10 years older. When I was 13 he was 3. I remember him riding around in the pickup while we irrigated crops. Such a long time ago. After they went to Rapod City, I went off to college, then I moved to Omaha. I wish we could have lived closer. I miss all my family. Michael, you did OK. I’ll see you all in heaven.

I lived at Ted and Ella Beyl’s while going to high school . Mike and Del were there a lot while Elmer and Ted farmed . Both boys were a joy to have around but lost track of them when they moved . I am sorry for the family loss .
