Milton (the man everyone knew as Mick) Keefe Anderson passed away suddenly on October 24, 2012 at his home in Helena, Montana due to natural causes.
Mick was born September 24, 1943 to his parents Milton O’Keefe and Edna Mae Anderson. Mick grew up in the Anderson home on Hayes Avenue in Helena’s upper Westside. Mick and his family spent many summers at their cabin “Valhalla” in Lincoln, Montana fishing, hunting, playing horseshoes, or swinging on the rope swing attached to the giant pine tree, where his parents currently rest in peace. Mick attended high school at Helena Senior High and was well-known for his athletic talents in football, basketball, swimming, and golf. After graduation, Mick married Pamela Budke Anderson in 1962 and together, had three children. Mick worked at the family store, Anderson Clothing in the old downtown Helena until its closing in 1975. Over the years, Mick served the Helena community as the manager of the Days Inn Motel and as a Realtor for Bill Walker Realty and Elk Horn Mountain Realty up until his passing.
Mick’s true passion throughout his life was his pursuit of Montana outdoor experiences. Side by side with his dad, Mick’s love of fishing and hunting began at the family cabin. He found true happiness in the simple pleasure of wetting a line on a small stream, a hunting trip with family and friends and later, playing golf with the Tuesday crew. Mick’s passion for the outdoors transcended all facets of his life from his animated political views to his regard for preservation and protection of “all things” Montana. Through his boisterous and emphatic ways, Mick passed this passion to everyone he touched, in particular his children. Mick will be remembered for his hilarious solo fishing pictures, belly laughs around a campfire, and endless Mickisms on the golf course. Mick will be missed by family and by many, many friends and acquaintances because this much is true. No matter the occasion, whether it was working or playing, or just spending time, whenever he gathered together with folks, he could always be counted on to bring laughter and smiles to the faces of all – not a bad legacy to leave behind!
Mick is survived by his long time and loving companion, Marlene Barbour; his children Mark Anderson (Maria) of Missoula, Montana, Lisa Steele (Jim) of Farr West, Utah, and Paxton Anderson (Christie) of Bluffdale, Utah; nine beautiful grandchildren, Dominique, Josh, McHale, Katie, Joe, Debbie, Ella, Evyn and Embrie; his siblings Karen Crawford (Harry) of Helena, Robert Anderson (Donna) of Helena, and Kathy White (Jim) of Rapid City, South Dakota; Marlene’s children and grandchildren of Helena . As well as many loved nieces, nephews and dear friends. Mick was preceded in passing by his parents and his eldest sibling, Connie Gallivan of Helena.

Dear Bob & Donna, Karen & Harry and all of your family members, You are all so dear to us and we share in your grief in the loss of your brother. Mick & Randy played City League basketball together, hunted and fished together with their young sons. I remember many parties at Mick and Pam’s home over near the Civic Center when we were all young married couples. Mick’s passing is such a shock and leaves an emptiness in my heart and a knot in my stomach. We’ll see you today at the service and we will miss Mick as will so many of his other close friends. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you at this sad time. Love you, Nata & Randy

Dear Bobby and Donna and all your family members, I was so saddened when I read you had lost your brother Mickey. As your classmate, I was always in awe as a teenager of you and your big, busy family, and remember how important Mickey was to you as a big brother. May a lifetime of good and happy memories with your brother eventually bring smiles and laughter, growing stronger than the grief and sorrow that is so heavy on you now. May God Bless all of you; my thoughts and prayers are with you. Marilyn (Baird)
