Mina L. Gaymon Wing Erickson passed away Saturday, May 18th, 2024, at Edgewood Vista in Belgrade, Montana. Mina was born April 25th, 1932, in Steamboat Springs, Colorado, the daughter of Omar and Rena Gaymon.
Mina, along with her sister Rena and brothers Kenny and Reece, enjoyed life on the family ranch. The Gaymons moved to the Fruita area where, in 1951, Mina married Theodore Wing at the Gaymon Family Farm.
Ted and Mina raised six children until their divorce in 1971. In 1973, Mina married Kennyth Erickson who brought four children of his own into the family! Together, they enjoyed a busy family life until Kennyth’s death in 2005.
Her greatest enjoyment came from spending time with family and friends and doing those things she loved. While Mina found pleasure in gardening, bowling, and more, her true passion was sewing!
After working many years at the Fort Harrison VA Hospital, Mina found her second career (her passion!) at Sue’s Sewing Palace. At Sue’s, Mina made many like-minded friends with whom she spent wonderful hours visiting, quilting, going on Quilting Retreats, and much more. The flying fingers of Mina Erickson created stunning works of art! These treasures became cherished birthday, graduation, and wedding gifts.
Mina was an amazing mother, grandmother to (24) Lauren, Mark, Dan, Matt, Jami, Beth, Katie, Claire, Dillon, Lexi, Sean, Amanda, Tanya, Justin, Jasmine, Jocelyn, JC, Kenyon, Channah, Janelle, Neal, Shelley, Jessica, and Caitlin, great grandmother (53), and great-great grandmother (4). She is survived by Donna Erickson, Kennyth (Lisa) Erickson, James (Veronica) Wing, Susan (Orris) Berg, Daniel (Cherie) Wing, Michael Wing, and David (Jane) Wing. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kennyth Erickson; parents Rena and Omar Gaymon; brother Kenny Gaymon; daughters Sandra Wing (Mike) Carroll, Jane Erickson Hansen, Vicki Erickson (Jim) Hoff; great grandson Will Carrell; and granddaughter, Jocelyn Hansen.
Mina was greatly loved and will be sadly missed by all.

I enjoyed working with Mina at the sewing palace. She always had a smile on her face and would help anyone Who needed it. She really was a special person and I’m sure that her family is going to really miss her.

Mina was always a joy to be around. She helped me more than I ever asked and she will always be remembered for her kindness, smile, and positivity. She will be missed.

When I began designing quilt patterns and quilt fabric, Mina was one of the gals who tested the patterns and made the quilts so that they could be displayed at the Quilt Markets. Her workmanship was excellent and I could always trust that if there was something that needed to be changed or clarified in a pattern, she would find it. After the quilts had been displayed at shows, they traveled around the US and when they were ready to retire from travels, the gal who made the quilt got it back. Her family may find some of these quilts in her possessions.
I loved her use of the word “dear”. When I would thank her for making the quilt, she would respond, “You’re welcome, dear.” She was a gem!

I remember Mina from Capital Bowl where she was a delightful team member. Everyone loved her. Next we crossed paths at The Sewing Palace when it was in that tiny spot where H & R Block is now. I went in to buy a spool of thread and came out with my first embroidery machine that Mina sold me. I still have the tiny fingertip towel she helped me to make that day. That started my love of machine embroidery. Mina never failed to ask about my hubby also named Ken. She was the most thoughtful, generous, genuine person. This world was a better place because of Mina.

Mina was a sweet and knowledgeable quilter. We did the Spring Flowers Quilt together in a class at The Sewing Palace. Since we both had the same model of machine, we worked together a lot. We were both proud of our quilts and decided that it would be our Funeral Quilt. I felt proud to get to know such a nice lady that always had a smile and a kind word.

Mina was the nicest, most gentle lady. I met her when I started sewing quilts after I retired. Sew’s Sewing Palace was a very fond destination for me, so I had many chances to interact with her. I took a class from her many years ago to make a combination pin cushion/small trash bag for my sewing table. I still use it to this day. Mina moved in to the apartment building where I live shortly after my husband and I did. She was in the apartment directly below us.
I was thrilled to be her neighbor. She helped me get my machine down to the store a couple of times and she assisted me in getting my groceries through the doors here. If she heard a loud noise or moving furniture in my apartment, she was ringing my doorbell to make sure I was okay. She was so kind and thoughtful. I loved her.
Mina, rest in Heavenly Peace.
