Norma Jean Andriolo, 74, of Helena, MT went to the arms of the Lord on June 11, 2012 in the presence of her family.
Norma Jean was born to Joe and Jennie Andriolo on August 17, 1937 in Bozeman, MT. She grew up in Trident, MT attending school in Trident, Logan and Three Forks, graduating from Three Forks High School. During her high school years, Norma Jean was involved in many activities including cheerleading, student government and was DeMolay Sweetheart. After high school, Norma Jean married Bud Walbert, they had 5 children together.
The family shared many enjoyable years raising Appaloosa horses on a ranch near Three Forks. They later divorced.
Norma Jean relocated to Helena with her children in 1967 where she worked at the Tempo Department Store. Soon thereafter, Norma attended the Helena Vocational Technical School and earned her Secretarial Certificate which began her 32 year career as an Executive Secretary to the Directors at the Department of Natural Resources and Conservation and later the Department of Environmental Quality for the State of Montana.
While living in Helena, Norma Jean married Jake Smith. They liked traveling which included trips to Alaska, Hawaii and the 1974 Spokane World’s Fair. They also enjoyed camping and boating at Canyon Ferry Lake. They later divorced.
Above all, Norma Jean had a love for her family. She was a devoted mother and grandmother who cherished spending time with her family. She was a strong swimmer and as a child could be found swimming in the Missouri River near her home in Trident. She enjoyed playing golf and tennis, and loved listening to music. Having been a member of a square dancing club, she spent many years dancing (stomping) in her leisure time.
Norma Jean is survived by her children Taffy Jo (Rolin) Erickson of Butte, Jeanne Kay (Mike) Murphy of Wolf Creek, Mike Eugene (Cindra) Walbert of Hailey, ID, Judy Lynn (Kim) Pillen of Helena and Brenda Lee (Mike) Crawford of Longview, WA. She is also survived by her brothers Richard (Sharon) Andriolo of Bozeman, MT and Mike (Diana) Andriolo of Liberty Lake, WA. Norma Jean has eleven grandchildren: Casey, Kelsie, Lindsay, Jason (Cindy), Lance (Jayla), Tracey (Jeremy), Rebecca (Jesse), Brent, Steve, Kyle (Dale) and Brian. She also has eight great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Norma was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Jennie Andriolo.
Norma Jean will be forever in our hearts and dearly missed by all.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m Saturday, June 16, 2012 at Anderson Stevenson Wilke Funeral Home, 3750 N. Montana Avenue. Burial will follow at Forestvale Cemetery. So sorry for your loss. Norma and I had some good years in life. She was a good mother and wife, a hard worker and she always did her best.
Even tho I’ve lost touch with Taffy, Jeanne, Mike and Brenda, I have so many good memories of all of you as I watched your growth for a few years. That was fun and rewarding. God Bless you and yours.
