In Memory Of

Olive Ann Price, age 88 of Helena

August 24, 1932 – June 7, 2021

Olive Anne (Mosher) Price 1932-2001

Olive passed away peacefully at Beehive Homes in Helena, MT on June 7, 2021.

She was born on August 24, 1932 to Howard & Clara Mosher in Seattle, WA.  She graduated from Roosevelt High School, with the class of 1950, in Seattle, WA. Olive loved horses all her life, rode and trained 16 different horses throughout her youth.  She rode on Seattle’s All-Girl riding team, the “Westernaires”.  One of her favorite memories was riding her horse, Rayhaus.  She was also a barrel racer.

She worked as the secretary to the Commanding and Executive Officer at Fort Lawson Army Post near Seattle from 1952 to 1955, where she met her future spouse, Harold M. Price (aka “Hal”).  They were married in 1954 and lived in Spokane where Hal finished his education at Eastern Washington University and Olive worked at Kaiser Aluminum.  It was there that they adopted two children, Alison in 1961 and Marshall in 1963.

They then moved from Spokane to Helena in fall of 1969.  Olive was a stay at home mom extraordinaire.  She supported her kids’ school activities at Rossiter school.  She enjoyed breeding, raising, and showing dogs and then rabbits for many years.  She was active in 4H and many people knew her as the “Rabbit Lady”.   She then went to work for Fish, Wildlife and Parks, in Personnel, for over 30 years.

During her retirement years in Townsend, she continued to raise rabbits and helped many 4 H youth.  She was a volunteer grandparent/reader at the school and was a lifetime member of the Crimson Bluffs Chapter of the Lewis and Clark Trail Heritage Foundation.

Olive is survived by her son Marshall, of Clancy, her daughter-in-law, Carol, and granddaughters: Brook and Nicole.  Her daughter, Alison, of Spokane and her daughter, Jessica and her family.  She is also survived by special cousins: Marjorie Trainor and Phyllis Henry. Olive is preceded in death by her husband, Harold, as well as her parents and in-laws.

Please join the family for a remembrance of Olive on Wednesday, June 16 at 10:30 am at the Anderson/Wilke Funeral Home in Helena, MT.  Refreshments will be provided. Graveside services will immediately follow at Deep Creek Cemetery in Townsend.  The family suggests memorials to the Crimson Bluffs Chapter of the Lewis and Clark Trail Heritage Foundation (LCTHF), P O Box 1034, Townsend, MT, 59644.

Marshall and family, Please accept our sincere condolences for the loss of your Mom. She was the ‘orientation committee’ when Mom (Shirley) moved into SH. And what a great job she did along with providing a warm welcome. She will be missed. You all take Care,
    Jan P and Shirley

Alison I am sorry to read that your mom passed away. I have such fond memories of her and your dad. I loved going to the Fish and Game to see the babies she would call us about during the summer. My thoughts and prayers are with you and Marshall.
