During the evening of December 15th, 2017, Paige Elizabeth Bryant, 21, a beautiful, talented and kind human being, was cruelly taken away from scores of friends and a loving family by an accidental overdose of heroin.
She had battled her addiction in many ways and had been clean and sober for over a year when a final relapse took her from us. She was enrolled at Northwest Beauty College in Eugene, OR and was active in local drug recovery programs in the area, volunteering for the needle exchange program. The program works to keep sterile syringes accessible so that those who inject drugs or hormones do not feel a need to share their syringes and risk becoming infected with HIV, HCV, or another blood borne disease. She was very serious about staying clean and realizing her ambitions.
Paige was born in Helena June 8, 1996 to parents, Jennifer and Dave Bryant. She attended Rossiter grade school and Capital High school, ultimately graduating with a high school degree from Helena’s excellent school program, Access to Success, May 7th, 2016. In an emotional ceremony, she was singled out as persevering and overcoming many challenges to secure her High School diploma.
She moved to Eugene, OR soon after graduation and began taking college classes at Lane Community College. Her passion was makeup and esthetician services so she later enrolled in the Northwest Beauty College in Eugene and was well on her way to becoming a licensed esthetician.
Paige had written a “Before I Die” wish list. There were 40 wishes on it and they give an insight into just what kind of a person she was. Here are some of them: “Donate to the needy. Help a complete stranger in a different state. Send a letter to the president. Ride a bull. Party in the Playboy mansion. Ride a horse on a beach. Live in a barn for a week. Write a song. Pet a Zebra. Walk around New Orleans helping random people.”
Unconventional. Sympathetic. Intelligent. Quiet. Outrageous. Loving. Paige also had a highly-tuned BS detector. She always demanded honesty from everyone she met and never failed to be honest in return.
She leaves behind a grieving family. Mother, Jennifer McCluskey & father Dave Bryant and his wife Janet, sisters Madison Bryant and Jennifer Bryant, grandparents John & Linda McCluskey and Francis Bryant, aunts and uncles Matthew & Jill McCluskey, Dale Bryant and Sue Bryant and cousins Lauren & Ryan McCluskey and Brandon Bryant.
A visitation will be held from Noon – 4 p.m. on Wednesday, December 27th at Anderson Stevenson Wilke Funeral Home, 3750 N. Montana Ave. Her family will receive friends following the visitation from 4 – 6 p.m. at the funeral home. A Celebration of Her Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 28th at South Hills Church of Christ, 2294 Deerfield Lane, Helena. A reception will follow the service in the social hall of the church. A private family burial will be held at Resurrection Cemetery.
You can honor her memory by donations to her favorite charity, the Lewis & Clark Humane Society, P.O. Box 4455, Helena, MT 59604. Please visit below to offer a condolence to the family or to share a memory of Paige.
She would also want everyone to be acutely aware of the current opioid epidemic that this year has claimed over 62,000 lives of people just like Paige. That’s more deaths than all of 2016 auto accidents, AIDS, breast cancer or 10-years of the Vietnam war. Get involved.
