Pamela Susan Brown, 64-years-young, Joined her Lord and Savior in Heaven on Tuesday, June 6, 2017 at St. Peter’s Hospital in Helena. She passed away suddenly from heart complications.
Pam was born on June 21, 1952 in Topeka, Kansas, to John and Rosemary Crocker. She was the oldest of 5 kids, and she was the BOSS!
As a child, she possessed a contagious smile, with those great big dimples, and that twinkle in her eye. With her sense of humor, she always kept us entertained. She should have been an actress.
Pam was known for her “gift of gab”. She had an ease in conversation with others, and she never met a stranger. Throughout her life she maintained a sweet and simple demeanor that won the trust and hearts of many. Her signature gift of joy, shown through her constant smiling, laughter, and joking around, will never be forgotten. Our lives were deeply and forever touched in a fun and unique way, by her life. She never lost that twinkle in her eye.
After graduating from Shadle Park High School in Spokane, Washington in 1970, she moved to Helena with her family and remained here for the rest of her years. She held various jobs working for the State of Montana – DOJ Gambling Control being the most recent. She was known for staying busy, working 3-4 jobs at a time. She worked for State Nursery & Seed Company as a Floral Designer; Cleaned for Creek’s Building Maintenance; Handed out samples at Helena stores, just to name a few.
After she retired from the State of Montana on April 1, 2016 she was very much enjoying her retirement. She then did many volunteer jobs; helping at Eagle’s Manor, and reading stories to children, where she often dressed in costumes…the most memorable was as Alice in Wonderland. Pam loved life, and she strived to have fun. She was always the life of the party! From Skydiving to Convertible rides with the top down, she enjoyed life and all it had to offer!
Pam met Charles W. (Charlie) Brown. The couple was married on March 3, 1984, after 6 years together. They had one Son – John Patrick Brown on August 10, 1984.
She was preceded in death by her Father – John W. Crocker in 2011, her Husband Charles W. (Charlie) Brown in 2013, her Niece Cassie Rae Crocker in 2016.
She is survived by: her only son, John P. Brown; her Mother, Rosie Crocker; sister, Sandi Crocker; brothers, Craig (Jodi) Crocker, Mike (Vikki) Crocker, Steve (Debbie) Crocker; In-laws, Gaye (and Stu) Benjamin; and many beloved Nieces, Nephews and Cousins, too numerous to mention.
There will be a Celebration of Life Service at Retz Funeral Home – 315 E 6th Ave – Helena, MT on Wednesday, June 21, 2017 from 5:00 – 7:00 pm. This would have been her 65th Birthday. Bring fun stories of her to share. Please don’t bring sadness and tears, as she would not have wanted that!

We are so sorry for your loss. Pam worked with me at the Gambling Control Division and added so much humanity and humor to the work place. She was a great worker and was loved by her fellow employees and the clients who came to the office. We always enjoyed her infectious personality and conversations when we bumped into her around town. She was a very special person and will be missed!
T. Kelly says
May the family find comfort in loving memories, and in knowing that God is “close to those that are broken at heart; and he saves those who are crushed in spirit.” (Psalm 34:18) Our loving Creator, Jehovah God, has promised to soon “swallow up death forever…and wipe the tears from all faces” (Isaiah 25:8). With deepest sympathy.
Wendy Casey says
Pam was a lovely person. I have enjoyed working with her these many years. Please know that Pam loved to talk about her husband & her son and she would tell us excitedly about the many fun things that the family was doing. My deepest sympathy on her passing.
Elaine Lambert says
I wanted to express my heartfelt condolences to all of Pam’s family. There’s such a sense of helplessness when someone we love dies. I’d like to share some scriptural thoughts that really helps me. Prayer is so valuable at this time but it’s not that prayer simply makes us feel better. 2 Cor.4:7 says that God can give us, “… power beyond what is normal “, to go from one day to the next. This does not mean that we no longer cry or that we forget, but it means we recover. The reason we recover is because of our hope. Jesus Christ talked about our hope in John 5:28, “… all those in the memorial tomb will hear his voice and come out “. Jesus was referring to the resurrection, this is our amazing hope that helps us recover and gives us power to go on. 2 Cor.1:3,4 describes our Creator as, “… the God of all comfort “. One way that God comforts us is by moving people who care about us to give us words of encouragement that we need to hear. May the God of comfort (Ps.83:18) be your comfort now during this time of sorrow.

John,
Your mom was such a wonderful person, always so happy and glad to see us. She raised a very sweet son, too. You were such a nice kid when we went on hockey trips. We were always glad to have you along!
You are in our thoughts and prayers.
Love,
Lauren and Mark Murphy

Rosie,
I did not ever meet Pam but I know the suffering you are going thru at this time. The loss of a child is the worst loss ever and it is not a club that anyone wants to belong to. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

Thank you all for your kind words and support during this difficult time. My Mother was one of a kind! She was amazing, and definitely a void that will never be filled! It has been a surreal experience that’s for sure, but its been so comforting to know there are so many outreaches! Thank you all again from the very bottom of my heart!
Mother…it was too soon, I wasn’t ready nowhere near in fact…but there are bigger plans for you beyond our comprehension. I miss and love you dearly…thank you for making me into who I am today! Tell Dad I said hello…. Your Son
