In Memory Of

Patricia A. Snider, age 82 of Helena

April 10, 1942 – February 23, 2025

Patricia Ann “Pat” Horning Englund Snider, 82, passed away peacefully on February 23, 2025.
Born to Roy and Frieda Horning on April 10, 1942, in Billings, MT, Pat grew up in Laurel, MT and graduated from Laurel High School in 1960.
In the spring of 1961 she moved to Helena, MT, where she worked as a code clerk for the Department of Administration until 1963.
She married Gary C. Englund on October 19, 1963, and together they raised three children, David, Cindi and Eric. In addition to being a dedicated wife, mother, and homemaker, Pat was a devoted humanitarian. Strong in her faith in Jesus, she was willing to help anyone in need; whether it meant helping refugees from southeast Asia find a new life here in the United States, teaching Sunday School classes for persons with intellectual disabilities, or providing transportation to and from church to nursing home residents.
In 1980 Pat resumed working outside the home, first as a Clerk/Typist with State Fund. She went on to work at Insurance Compliance and eventually worked at DPHHS Blind & Low Vision Services before she retired.
In 1988, after nearly 25 years of marriage, her husband, Gary, passed away.
In 1990, Pat married James “Jim” E. Snider, her husband and light of her life for the last 34 years. Together they enjoyed their family, gardening, spending time at their cabin on Sauerkraut Creek, and occasional trips to Washington and Oregon.
Pat is survived by her husband Jim; her children, David (Vera) Englund of Basin, Cindi (Brent) Colbert of Helena, Eric (Tammy) Englund of Kalispell; her grandchildren, Rachel Englund of Helena, Zachery (Elise) Englund of Boulder, Jeremiah (Stacy) Englund of Chambersburg, PA, Ashley Englund of Odessa, TX, Cody (Coco) Colbert of Helena, Ian Colbert (Jaya Banks) of Pasadena, CA, Kelly (Brandon) Banner of Kalispell, David Morgan of Whitefish, and Colby Morgan of Kalispell. She is also survived by her brother, Roy “Mike” (Cheryl) Horning of Laurel, her sister-in-law, Shirley “Micky” (Jim) Miller of Seligman, AZ; as well as 8 great-grandchildren, 2 nieces and 3 nephews.
No services are planned at this time. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages acts of kindness in Pat’s memory.

Your mom was always so sweet and loved you so much, Cindi. I remember when she would call me and say get Cindi away from that boyfriend of hers. ( not you, Brent) hee hee. I just thought that was so sweet. She loved and cared for you as a mom should. She will be missed by many people, but is celebrating with our lord and savior, Jesus. We will get to see them again very soon! Gods got you Cindi! Call on Him when you get sad or lonely for your mom. He has helped me so much. Love you guys! Lia

Though we never met, we had a family connection, my dad (Buck Dunfee) and Freida, were first cousins. I wish I’d have made more of an effort to meet. Condolences to the family.

Gary England was a very special friend, during my high school and college times. When we moved back to Helena Merle and I where VERY excited to meet Gary’s new bride Pat. WOW what a very nice person she was. We looked forward many Friday nite dinners and visiting. Pat was truly a great person for Gary. A few years after Gary’s death, Pat married Jim, another fine person. Pat’s kind, sharing, religious life will, certainly be lost to our community.
