Patricia Ann (Bryson) Hereim, 74, passed away peacefully the evening of Tuesday, April 16, 2024, at her daughter’s home in Helena after a four-year battle with cancer.
Patricia was born January 23, 1950, in Bozeman, to Norman and Bette (White) Bryson. She grew up in the Madison Valley on the family farm. She graduated from Three Forks High School in 1968 and attended Bozeman Vo-Tech where she completed bookkeeping courses. After graduating, she moved to Boulder to work as a payroll clerk at the Boulder River School.
Pat married David Hereim on June 1, 1970, in Bozeman. They made their home in Three Forks and then moved to Martinsdale, where they owned Martinsdale Repair. She did all the bookkeeping for the business. Pat also worked for the Martinsdale Mint Bar. After Dave passed away, Pat moved to Belgrade; here she took computer courses with Career Transitions. Using those new skills, she was able to work for Wal-Mart in the cash office. Later she was on the board of Career Transitions. When her twin grandsons were born, she transferred to the Laurel Wal-Mart and lived with her daughter’s family in Bridger. She then moved with her daughter and family to Helena. She continued to work for Wal-Mart until she retired.
Pat and Dave had two children, Norman David and JoEllen. Sadly, Norman David passed away at the age of 3. Pat was blessed with 4 grandchildren which she doted on, no matter what trouble they caused. She told many stories of the kids’ escapades.
In her youth, Pat was a member of 4-H, FHA, and Rainbow Girls. As an adult she continued to be involved in 4-H as a leader. In 2000 she was named a Montana 4-H Foundation Outstanding 4-H Alumni. She was a school board member in White Sulphur Springs for many years. Pat loved sewing and embroidery up until her eyes wouldn’t let her do it anymore. She loved her flower beds and indoor plants. She was very pleased when her son-in-law and grandsons built her a raised flower bed garden with a fence so the miniature horses would quit eating all her pretty flowers.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her son, and her parents. She is survived by her daughter, JoEllen (Joseph) Wood of Helena; brothers Chuck (Linda) Bryson of Three Forks and Jim (Pam) Bryson of Belgrade; sister Susan Case of White Sulphur Springs; grandchildren Tessa, Dustin, Asa, and Beau Wood; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Per Pat’s wishes, there will be no services. Her ashes will be scattered at a private family gathering at a later date.

I had the pleasure of attending Three Forks Schools with Pat for 12 years. She was always a very easy going classmate who was fun to be around and got along well with everyone. I didn’t see her much after graduation other than a few class reunions but always enjoyed catching up. Sorry to hear about her passing. That dang cancer seems to be everywhere these days. God Bless Pat and all your family. May Our Lord bring you peace and hope as you grieve her passing.

Pat was my friend and coheart all the time we served together on the White Sulphur Springs School board. Pat we a strong supporter of me and all of her friends and family. a strong minded person with a big heart. I will miss her, but all of our accomplishments remain as a memorial to her. Sorry for the loss.

My family knew and grew up with the Bryson kids! Pat was easy going, fun to be around! She loved her children and I’m glad she got to be with them and grandchildren till the end! Rest in peace, you are with Dave now.

I was fortunate to grow up with Pat in the Madison Valley. My family and the Brysons were close neighbors . We had many fun times together riding the old yellow school bus to Three Forks . We also enjoyed a lot of dances, events and holidays at the Madison schoolhouse. Bill graduated with Pat and enjoyed her friendly and outgoing personality . She will be greatly missed by those that knew her. We hope your wonderful memories of her will give you comfort.

Pat and David were good friends for many years. Both very hard working and strong minded individuals, salt of the earth. You couldn’t ask for better people under any circumstances. Lots of good times with them in Martinsdale. She will certainly be missed but her and David will live on through JoEllen and their grandchildren, a true legacy. Our condolences to all.
