In Memory Of

Patricia A. Huber age 80 of Scottsdale, formerly Helena

July 2, 1935 – December 15, 2015

Patricia (Pat) Ann Powers Huber passed away on December 15, 2015 in Scottsdale, Arizona. Pat was born on July 2, 1935 as the last of five children to Carrie and William Powers in Spokane, Washington.  Shortly after her birth her father passed away and her family relocated to Helena, Montana where she would spend the majority of her life.  Pat married C.W. “Bill” Huber at St. Helena Cathedral on August 17, 1957.  From this marriage, Bill and Pat welcomed five children. Early in her adult life, Pat was a stay-at-home mother raising their large family.  Early in the 1970’s Pat went to work full time at the Lewis and Clark County Welfare office, completed college classes at night and nurtured her growing family.   Pat graduated from Carroll College in 1975.  She then continued working in her chosen field of social work ultimately retiring from the State of Montana in 1989.  For the last thirteen years, Pat resided in Scottsdale where she was endeared by her neighborhood community, delighted in the closeness of her daughter Stacy and was simply comforted by the warmth of the Arizona sunshine.  The Huber family recently celebrated Pat’s 80th birthday with a Thanksgiving family reunion in Scottsdale.

In addition to her family, Pat had many interests to include cooking, reading, tournament bridge, sewing, quilting at master level, complex knitting, needle point and travel. Pat’s travels included visits to France, Austria, Czech Republic, Greece, Italy, Israel, Korea, Hawaii and several trips to Alaska.  A ferocious reader, she placed weekly orders for books from the NY Times best seller list.  Pat is readily known for her avid attention to state and national politics, world events, the Catholic Church, and her many life-long friends in Helena and good friends in Scottsdale.  Pat will be remembered as a strong woman, a fine mother and grandmother to her family and a loyal and caring friend to many.

Pat is preceded in passing by her parents, brother and sisters, and her husband C.W. “Bill” Huber. Pat is survived by her four sons and daughter: Kirk (Sharon) Huber of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Father Matthew Huber of Stevensville, Montana, Mark (Cindy) Huber of Anchorage, Alaska,  Colonel William “Bill” Huber (US Army retired) of Anchorage, Alaska,  and Stacy Huber, Scottsdale, Arizona.

Oftentimes Pat was known as the best cheerleader, and always giving her undivided attention in conversations about life with each of her four grandchildren: Lyndon and Patricia (Tricia) Huber, Mariah Huber, and William Huber.

The Huber Family graciously extends our heartfelt appreciation to the staff of The Gardens of Scottsdale Living Center for their care of our Mother during her stay.

  1. Maryanne and Bill Murray & Family says

    December 30, 2015 at 10:23 pm

We have many wonderful memories of spending time visiting with Pat and Bill at their home on Holter Avenue in Helena. These visits invariably included lively conversations regarding politics and world affairs. As their nephew, when I first arrived in Helena to attend Carroll College, Pat and Bill took me under their wings and guided me from the big city life in Chicago to life in Montana at Carroll College. Aunt Patsy always had a pot of fresh coffee on and was so smart and funny. Pat was a very accomplished lady having returned to school to receive a degree in mid-life while continuing to raise her children and begin a career in social work. Pat used to tutor me in Mathematics at Carroll College and to reciprocate, I occasionally baby sat the kids. My mother was Pat’s oldest sister. Pat was the last of the Powers family to pass as her three sisters and brother are now gone. God Bless you Pat. You are now in heaven reunited with your dear husband, Bill. May you rest in peace. We extend our sincerest condolences to all of the Huber family.

Our great neighborhood will be so lost without this lovely woman. Her stories, her knowledge and her great wit are now gone. Although still in our memory banks.
I got to spend time with her at the nursery residence where she last resided. She was well loved there as well.
We will continue to love your daughter, Stacy, and look after her. She loved you so very much.

Mike and I and our sons Pat & Chris have many fond memories of our backyard neighbors Pat and Bill as our boys were growing up. Our sympathy to the family. May you, their children, cherish all your memories and recall them often with a smile.
