Patricia Louise “Gregory” Maness, age 70, of Helena passed away Friday, November 17, 2017. Patricia was born December 7, 1946 to Louis Patrick Gregory and Ida Elizabeth Hartz in Helena, MT.
She attended Saint Mary’s Grade School, Cathedral High School (class of 1965), and then went on to attend Montana State University. She met her first husband and father of her children, Alvin Howard Smith, while working at the telephone company.
Patricia lived in Alaska for 23 years, and enjoyed a life of adventure that included photography, exploring, and pursuing her private pilot’s license. Patricia followed in her mother’s footsteps, she was member of Saint Mary’s Catholic Community, playing the organ for St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Yakutat, AK, and singing in the choir at St. Helena’s Cathedral.
Patricia enjoyed crocheting, sewing, watching animals, and square dancing. Through this hobby, she met her husband Daniel Maness. They were married October 21, 2000. Together they had several adventures including living in Arizona, competitive square dancing, traveling the U.S., many camping trips, and a recent trip to Italy.
Patricia is survived by her devoted husband Daniel Maness; three children Ronald E. Smith, Kelly L. Smith (Rebecca), Valerie L. Heidenreich (Benjamin); three grandchildren, Katlynn E. Smith, Fisher Wheatley, Hayden J. Smith; mother-in-law Iris Maness; three step-children Troy Maness (Lynn), Shauna Ottman (Dan), Terri Norman (Ben); step-grandchildren Joe Maness (Lauren), Cody Maness (Kira), Kyle Norman, Abby Ottman, and Emily Ottman; step-great grandchildren Parker Maness, Kaydn Maness, Mckenzie Maness, and Kennedy Maness.
She is preceded in death by her parents Louis “Happy” and Ida Gregory, and her brother James P. Gregory.
Viewing will begin at 3:30 p.m. and the family will gather for a Rosary at 4:30 p.m. with a Vigil to begin at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 29th at Saint Mary Catholic Community, 1700 Missoula Ave. Viewing will begin at 11:00 a.m. with a funeral Mass to be celebrated at 12:10 p.m. on Thursday, November 30th at Saint Mary Catholic Community. A funeral reception will follow the Mass in the lower level of the church. Interment will immediately follow the reception at Resurrection Cemetery.
