Patricia Ann Tyanich passed away October 29 after a long courageous battle with Parkinson’s disease. She was born March 15, 1932 in Lovelock Nevada to Arthur and Edna (Hunsaker) Wooten. Arthur was a construction foreman who worked on many of the hydroelectric dams being built throughout the western US. Consequently, Pat grew up in Washington, California and Montana.
After graduating from Helena High School, she met and married Peter Tyanich of Helena on October 20, 1951. During the early years of her marriage she worked for the MT Highway Department and the State Aeronautics Commission before becoming a full time homemaker, wife and mother to two daughters. Her husband, Pete the youngest of 10 children and his big family embraced her as one of their own and Pat loved hosting them all in her meticulously kept home. She was an excellent cook and a loving wife and mother.
When her daughters were teenagers, she resumed her career working for the Montana Constitutional Convention and the Montana Legislature for many years. Pat loved the outdoors, the Montana Mountains and everything Pete loved -including a series of Siamese cats named Vuk.
Pat was preceded in death by her parents, sister and brother in law Dian and Lester Quinn of Ohio, her in-laws Vee and Howard Walden, Ange and Tom Miskovich, Helen and AI Milholland, Rod and Marge Tyanich, Mary and Bob Olson, Jo and Mike Kovich, Zorka and Max DaSilva, and Dan and Alice Tyanich.
Pat is survived by her husband of 68 years and daughter Nancy at the family home Pete built in 1953. Also surviving is daughter Leslie (John) Moran of Missoula, and grandchildren Megan, Molly and Peter. She also leaves many dear and loved nieces and nephews as well as Vuk #5.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm Wednesday, November 6 at Anderson Stevenson Wilke Funeral Home, 3750 N. Montana Ave in Helena. Yes, meticulous housekeeper and excellent cook – read on. At a Tyanich family gathering in their home Pat made a scrumptious dessert. And, horrors, just before serving, the whole thing fell to the kitchen floor. Her sisters-in-law looked at one another with dismay and regret. Then one said: “We’ve always thought Pat’s floor is so clean you could eat off it.” They dove down to scoop.

So sorry to hear of Pat’s passing! She was a sweet lady! I spent many times at the Tyanich house playing with Nancy! We lived across the ally from them and she gave me my nickname “Bacon”. She will be missed deeply and my thoughts and prayers are with you!

Wylie, our dog, and I really enjoyed our visits with Pat at RMCC. Pat always brightened up when she saw Wylie and he loved her attention. Peace and love to all.

The world is a less thoughtful and pleasant place without Pat. I remember the many times Pat and Pete would come over to the house on Highland for bridge or a party with Eleanor and Harry. Thoughts of those times are such a blessing to me. Pat was such a good friend to my mom. My love to Pete and Helena High School alum Leslie.
